  • If you like your Blackberry buy an iPod Touch. You need a decent amount of memory 32GB or 64GB really otherwise you will be frustrated and run out of space if you like your music. I wouldn't buy any other sort of iPod as the Touch is super.

There is a bit of work in getting all the album artwork right where you have ripped the music from CDs (and I found difficulty in sourcing any artwork for some vinyl albums - but I'm old).

Keep a spare copy of all MP3s away from iTunes (ideally also on that other drive you already back your media up on to allow for PC drive failure !) and then spend a while getting it all nice in iTunes and your iPod Touch.

As an aside, can't you put a memory card in your Blackberry and get some sort of media player app. Not as nice as an iPod but very cheap !

Thanks, loads of great advice and opinions. I'm interested to learn how easy it may be to just connect an MP3 to my Phillips stereo through the aux line. Always wondered what that was for! I may take a drive over to Maplins and ask a freindly geek to point me in the right direction! or shall I be brave and look on e-bay!!
I do think I'm best to n ot buy into the i-phone hype, tbh as I am not a mega phone user - minimal minutes but lots of texts and emails and BBM's with my daughter! so don't see how i'd benefit, especially after reading your comments.
My daughter is often asking me if she can 'plug' her BB into a TV or stereo so she can listen to her 'delightful!!' music much loader. She has most of her music on her phone on a memory card. Is there a wire that would connect a BB like this? Anytime I google this it just comes up with BB to car stereo info.

Depending on the size of your Aux Line (if it's small, 3.5mm, if it's larger (older style giant headphone plug) then phono size (dk what that size is :D))

So assuming your mp3 player/bb phone has a standard 3.5mm jack out then you buy a corespondinng wire. So! if it's smaller, 3.5 too 3.5 lead

N.B I do not represent, endorse, whatever this seller, but just randomly found it to show you the type of lead you want.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5mm-3-5mm-Jack-Audio-iPod-Aux-MP3-car-Cable-1-5M-/260819338507?pt=UK_CE_MP3Access_RL&hash=item3cba0b450b
^ that would do for a 3.5mm on both ends.
If your aux in is a larger hole, then you can just buy a converter (used to get those things free when you bought headphones!)
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5mm-Stereo-Socket-6-3mm-6-35mm-1-4-Jack-Headphone-Adapter-Converter-Plug-/290643972323?pt=UK_Computing_NetworkingTools_Accessories_SM&hash=item43abbb10e3
AGAIN, NOT RECOMMENDING OR ANYTHING, JUST AS AN EXAMPLE!

The lead you get shouldn't be so long you trip over it, you can get smaller than 1m, maybe consider a 25cm lead, or half a metre one so that it doesn't trail (You put the ipod, bb, etc, next to the device)

Do maplins if you want it instantly, do ebay if you dont mind a few days, but happy with cheaper.

Also if the hole on the bb is smaller still, that's prolly 2.5mm. Or it might need a converter to take a 3.5mm headphone socket. I know it's reasonably standard now to have a 3.5mm headphone socket, but that isn't always the case. Your manual should tell you, or even if it's your daughters phone, just ask if she can plug in headphones normally.
