Someone will be along in a minute to point out the illegality of keeping the rips and selling the CDs.
Besides which, if you keep the mp3s and dispose of the CDs, you'll never be able to listen to your music again in CD quality. mp3s are a data-reduced approximation of the original CD; downsample it to mp3, and you'll never get the quality back if/when you upsample it back.

I have a i phone 4 and 2 old i pods but prefer not to 'dock' them.
What I do is connect via the headphone socket into a aux socket on my Roberts 83i sound system (as well as having a proper old style HIFI system). Sometimes when out and about I have been known to connect using the same method into other peoples amplification systems. The problem with a dock is that my 3 devices are different shapes and don't fit the same docks while a aux/ headphone connection works on all 3 devices.
The iPod v i phone question. Depends if you like having the internet,GPS maps etc on the move and prefer to carry one device rather than 2 but it's more expensive if you are a low use mobile phone user.0 -
Well, that proves it, then. You've tested it with 'really good iems', so nobody else will notice a difference, eh?
How many are these 'most' people that form your sample group?
Anyone who's done a double blind test: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16295
The iems I use are Senn IE8s and EX1000s. Encoded properly, everything becomes transparent at around 170kbps.
But you wouldn't know about thatI shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

How many CDs are you looking at storing?
I've got 50gb of music on my iPod classic.. now nearly 5 years old and going strong. My CDs now live up in the loft in boxes0 -
My 64Gb iPod Touch is full.
I have enough music, though, spread around my Apple players, a Sony, a Sansa and an old Cowon that doesn't get any use since BBE was licensed for the App store.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

also, remember that you can plug any MP3 player into a stereo, assuming the stereo has a line-in. Usually need a 3.5mm jack to phono lead. You don't get the remote control that you would with a iDevice dock, but then you don't have to spend as much money either!0

My current favourite rig: iPod Touch 64Gb, IE8s and BBEI shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Android is better than Apple. Android app is free and works as well. People tend to buy Apple just because it's popular or they don't know any better.0

I do like Poweramp for Android - probably the only decent music app...but it wasn't free.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

I had Apple stuff before it was popular. If I had wanted Android I would of got one and I know what suits me and it sure as hell is not Android. What makes you a expert0
