Transferring from old cash ISA to new cash ISA with the same bank

Hi there,

I chose Halifax for my cash ISA for last year (ISA Saver Direct, 3%) and my interest has been paid. I see that they are offering a new cash ISA called 'ISA Saver Online' which pays 3% and was wondering how to transfer from the old ISA to this new one.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

Yes, it's easy. Fill in http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/accounts/cash-isas/ISAoptions/ and they'll redesignate it in a day or two.
  • Hello, wish I had read this post earlier! This afternoon I opened Halifax's new 3% ISA and I also have 2 previous ISA'S held with them and was thinking I would need to go in and ask them to transfer it!!

So now that my new Isa is open, will I still be able to transfer the old one's into this years version? And if so - how?

    Thanks!

You'll probably have to phone them or something - I'm not aware of a way of merging the accounts online.

Perhaps you could just redesignate them all separately - okay, you'll end up with multiple ISA accounts but that won't affect the interest you receive. Or you could do that first to get them earning decent rates, then you can take your time over getting them transferred / merged.
  • Download n print the "Cash ISA account transfer form – Customer authority (ISATF)" forms on Halifax website (sorry i am a newbie, can't include a link here according to MSE rule). Fill it in n hand over to any Halifax branch. All sorted out for me in less than 1-2 days ...

    Hope this helps ...

An singular Halifax cash ISA from past tax years can be re-designated to get the new interest rates and terms of the presently available ISAs. This can be done over the phone.

In my latest case I had one large cash ISA that I decided to split between two additional new cash ISAs with different terms. This required two ISATF forms.

The new accounts appeared, online, a couple of working days after submitting the forms over the counter in the branch. No new ISA money was involved, it was all from previous tax years. It was a very good service.
