Mail for my ex-husband being sent to me - how?

Are you absolutely sure it was for your ex?
A previous occupant of our home had the same first initial and surname as my son and we sometimes got some of their post - led to some confusion at first!!0 -
Surely though for an actual credit card to turn up the bank would have had to have some sort of confirmation it was requested.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

Thanks Pink - I think I will take it to a local branch and explain the whole situation. To be honest, I would like an explanation as to why they have changed his address when he has not asked them to. I did speak to someone on the Lloyds "helpline" today after making 2 separate phone calls, being transferred & put on hold etc. He was very little help really, told me that no-one would be able to tell me what had happened, but to return the card and a block would be put on his account - which is NOT what I want!
Cat - yes I am absolutely sure it is for the Ex, letter shows his full 3 names, which are quite unusual.0 -

It's a card renewal, I am positive of that. Cards have been automatically sent to him for years when we lived together in Greece. Now I am back in UK and someone at Lloyds has taken it upon themselves to presume that Ex has also moved back here. But I am not a Lloyds customer and I want to get to the bottom of this. Anything could have happened to this new card if my partner and I were not trustworthy.0 -

I checked my credit reference and there was indeed still a joint financial connection with my Ex. I asked them to delete this reference, which they confirmed. I got NO response whatsoever to the letter I sent to Lloyds TSB.
What had arrived in the post today? Another letter addressed to the Ex! I have not opened it but I can feel that it contains a credit card and I know it's from Lloyds TSB as the sort code is visible.
Please can anyone advise my best course of action? I have several options:-
1. Return the letter to Sender but this will not get to the bottom of the matter
2. Forward the letter to my Ex in Greece and let him go ballistic on the phone to his bank long distance. But I don't want him to know my address here in the UK which he will see on the letter
3. Go into a Lloyds branch, give them the letter/card, explain whole situation and let them deal with it and presumably send his card to Greece.
Basically, I want my Ex to know what has happened so that he can deal with his bank directly. But I also want some sort of explanation from Lloyds too, but from some sort of head office. Any advice please?
I'd double check with Experian that you're no longer linked to your ex on your credit file, and return the letter to Lloyds saying 'Not known at this address'.
If Lloyds contact you again, I'd get a little more active, i.e. write to them and ask that your address be removed from your ex's account details."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
This happened to me (but with the Halifax) about a year ago. I complained. I was so annoyed as not only did they send my ex's bank statement in the to me, but they sent him a letter with my new address on (like a Confirmation of Change of Address form, so it showed my new address but was sent to HIS existing address, even though I'd never lived there). Halifax credited my account with £100, which was better than a kick in the teeth but it does mean he knows where I live now, and I dont plan on moving0

Oh Moneypuddle, that's terrible! I'd hate for Lloyds to send such a letter (showing my address) to my Ex but at least he is in Greece and very unlikely to come back here. But it could still potentially cause all sorts of problems. I will definitely be complaining. The bloke on the "helpline" really could not understand the problem, or why I was so annoyed.0

my ex used to get his post sent to my address, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth when he said he never, but it was him. He was hoping that by giving a different address he could get more credit,
it came to a halt after bailiffs were asking for my 8 year old son and where was the washing machine he got on hp.
I still have the letter confirming my son's innocence in all this from the bailiffs etc because one day i fear he will need it to prove his innocence, which when he turns 18 next year...
that's how low his father went, but told everyone it wasn't him, a signature match worked caught red handed0 -
I would just like to share the ending to this story...
I returned the letter addressed to my Ex containing a debit/credit card, to Lloyds Customer Services, and explained the whole situation again. I did quickly receive a reply but it was very vague, all they did was apologize and promise that it would not happen again, they had now amended his address records etc.
This was not good enough! I wrote again, asking specifically how they obtained my new address (I am not a Lloyds customer), why they presumed my Ex was living here (he is still living abroad where we were for 8 years), and why his address details were changed without his knowledge or consent.
I have just received a reply! It all stems from Scottish Widows, with whom I have a pension. I changed my address some months back. They are under the Lloyds umbrella and apparently my Ex and I are still linked on their system (I seem to remember we had a joint life insurance plan when we had a mortgage). They then sent the details to Lloyds and they changed his address to mine. This has all now been amended (apparently).
They must realise that what they did was very wrong - they enclosed a cheque for 50 pounds for all the distress and inconvenience caused!
I am glad that this has been resolved but it just goes to show how easily private information/ credit cards can potentially fall into the wrong hands.0 -
Oh what a tangled web our credit files weave
That's good news it's sorted - it's so annoying when you're stuck in one of these little mysteries and they always take ages to sort.MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0
