Phew, I thought I was going to read that Kia had finally discovered her naughty side!!

I agree with the biological washing powder. I would dampen the area slightly and then sprinkle the washing powder over it. Leave it to dry, or even hair dryer it on a cool setting and then hoover it off. Then if needs be you can re-dampen the area and rub with a soft cloth.

Are you sure the smell is still on the sofa and not just in the general area?

If he has had the runs for a couple of days I would maybe get him to the vets as he could get dehydrated

As for cat, is it best to starve him atm until the bug passes??

I know it is a new, expensive sofa and all, but I can't believe hardly anyone has talked about puss in all of this (except for Katy) :rotfl:

If puss has had diarrhoea for three days in a row, you need to take them to the vet asap. I think yours is only a young cat? Diarrhoea can quickly dehydrate particularly in young cats, and can easily lead to more serious problems.

Depending on what the vet says is the cause, the normal recommended feeding regime for a cat with diarrhoea is bland food such as boiled chicken/boiled white rice.

Totally agree, I was going to suggest this too. Three days with the trots is far too long. The vets is the only option here.

Please be careful what you use on leather so that no damage is caused. The problem is that you need to kill the bacteria which is what is causing the smell. Using washing cleaners, bicarbonate etc will not do this. You need to use an enzyme cleaner so that the smell will not return but you need to use one that has been tested on leather and will nit damage the finish.
    Hoe this helps

    Update guys.

As for the sofa, it's sorted, vinegar and bicarb of soda (seperately of course) sorted that.

As for cat he is fine, I noticed today him eating the dogs food and when I phoned vet she said this will be the cause and to monitor him, the dogs food now on raised platform and Frankie had normal poos since (sorry, graphic but important).

He has had cat food and is fine now, just need to make sure he doesn't try eat the dogs food, must have upset his tummy.

P.S, not been the runs 3 days in a row, just pood in other places. My neice has been staying though and she has woken up in night for drinks and I reckon she has been shutting the door leading to the kitchen (where the cat litter is) stopping him from getting in. Bought one today for upstairs to avoid that happening again.

    The joys of having furballs....
