parking contravention notice from co op car park

hi all
i have received a parking contravention enforcement notice from the co op car park for over staying my welcome lol, it was only about 30 minutes over the free time allowed and i just lost track of the time - i did use their store amongst other stores on the high road.
im pretty sure after reading some posts on here that the bottom line is to ignore them and they will eventually get fed up, but i just wanted to be sure?
of course it mentions things like taking me to court and doubling the find etc, but im guessing after a few more red letters they will give up?
as far as i know the co op car park is privately ran, as in its not council etc.
thanks in advance for any replies

yes, you can Ignore them, it is a scam that impersonates authority, they will just send lots of silly letters, then pretend to be some more types of authority such as debt collectors and solicitors, then give in and go away.
The letters can be quite scary at first, full of threats of court, warnings, final warnings, final final warnings , but if you look on parking tickets thread, at the top is a link to most companies and you can see the exact silly letters they will send.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Who is the company on the ticket you got ? And where do you pay them ? Just making sure its not a council ticket ?Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Its disgraceful that the Co-Op cant supply free parking for anyone who wants to shop elsewhere.0

It is sad that an allegedly ethical company is associating themselves with the craven of businesses that are so unethical that they probably won't let them open bank accounts with them. I remember opening a business account with them that they were ensuring I weren't involved with certain fields of business.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. A note of sarcasm, perhaps? :rotfl: The OP says they did shop there. And in many cases (though I am not saying it applies here as I don't know) planning permission is granted on the condition that the retailer makes its car parking available to all, not just its own customers.
But it isn't a matter of condoning people who are "naughty" its about fighting the ridiculous "fines" that are unlawfully sought.0 -

It says 'parking contravention enforcement notice. London e4' at the top of letter. It then lists my car details and the date and time I over stayed the free parking limit.
Then has a load of threats about doubling my fine, taking me to court and asking ms to pay £10 if I want to see the photographic evidence.
The website info is https://www.ce-services.co.uk
Their address is civil enforcement ltd, Horton house, exchange flags, liverpool, L2 3PF
So they are a private company do you think ?

Yes. And contrary to their name, they do not indulge in enforcement, civil or otherwise.0

It doesn't sound like a local authority or police force to me.
I believe that the Co-op does usually provide free parking. My local one is. However, at some sites, they could have a problem with abuse. I have every sympathy for car park owners in this position, but PPCs are not the answer. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
you have recieved loo paper, do with it what you normally do, then press, flush,,then forget about it completely.jobs a good un.0

Councils and police do not write out "parking contravention charges"
They issue fixed penalty notices or penalty charge notices.
Mostly under the traffic management act of 2004 with the odd exception still issuing under older powers.
These fake ticket scams work by impersonating Authority and leave victims wondering if they might have a ticket issued by someone working for the council, in this confusion area, is the place where these scammers operate.
They combine this with threats and more confusion with real authority, attempting to frighten victims that they can be taken to court.
There is a small element of truth in that anyone can sue anyone in this country, the problem comes when they try it on in court.
They often send through the odd case, where at court once sat down inside out of sight a stooge admits the charge and then refuses to pay the ccj, so the parking scammers have a CCJ to use in threats, the truth of the matter is, they do not win any correctly defended case as the charges are illegal penalties.
How on earth can they prove that if its 2 hours free parking at 2 hours and 1 second, the car park has instantly lost £60, not cost, LOST, have the car park written a cheque for £60 to someone, has the store opened a till and handed out £60 to someone for your 1 second over stay ?
The answer is no and this is how to defend and PPC, by demanding the clock is rewound to the first second of the alleged infringement and demanding they explain how they had to pay out the money they claim to have lost and to who it was paid.
The answer can only ever be, they did not pay it, so what loss do they seek other than a fictitious one.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
