I am dubious about this one - all the others (bar one) are more expensive for less minutes and have Data bolt on - this one just says data

The offer is advertised on quidco aswell..

    '
    Free iPhone 4S £36 a month + £35 cashback

    Expires: 30 Apr 2012

Unlimited texts, unlimited minutes, 1GB data. FREE handset. 24 month contract on O2 (more details)'

Seems like quite a good offer, I hate the thought of a 24 month contact through, I'm waiting for the 5 when it comes out!
  • Or just buy a decent phone sim free, & whack a giffgaff sim in it...

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 for £450, I pay giffgaff £15 month for 400 mins, unlimited text & most importantly, unlimited internet. Of course, you could get more from three, for example, but I like the fact giffgaff is on the o2 network (therefore a decent signal)...

Over 24 months, the cost is cheaper than most of these contract deals & I'm not tied to anybody :)
Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.

But its not a like for like comparison - you get 400 minutes and you lay out £450 up front - you pay for the fact that you are not tied in and do not get any upgrades - so all in all what works for you will and may not work for other people

    Great minds

I bought my iPhone 4S for £500 and pay £10 a month with GiffGaff I get 250 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited (40gb) of data so after 2 years it's cost me £740 But this deal would cost £864 after 2 years and I can leave any time I want and the phone is mine - no one can take it off me if I don't pay the bill.

Still a good deal on the 4S though, useful to people who are looking for a new phone :-)

    1) whilst commenting on the inferior minutes, you forgot to include the fact that my method has superior data - important to me as a user of the skygo facility.

    2) yes I paid £450 up front. That's why contracts are dearer - that 'free' phone isn't actually free.

    3) upgrades? oh you mean that new 'free' phone you'll get to stay on contract, still paying an inflated monthly price?

Whilst I agree what works for me may not work for others - and whilst I acknowledge your criticisms, at least establish all the facts so it's honest & unbiased.

  • How long does it usually take to do a credit check. I applied for this phone this morning and got an email saying once checks are done they will get back to me.
