  • I like either Noddle or checkmyfile - particularly the latter as it's a multi-agency report.

    Good luck!

    Just tried to register with Noddle, half way through this came up;

Sorry, we can’t provide your credit report

We’re sorry but we’ve not been able to provide you access to your Noddle credit report.
As your credit report contains such personal and important financial information we need to make sure that we only make it available to the right person and unfortunately we’ve not been able to automatically verify and validate your identity at this time.
We’re continually making updates to our processes and we hope that this will allow more people to be automatically matched so please do come back in the future and try again.

    Whats the reason for this??

Ive taken your advice and done an experian credit report, and the results are puzzling me. Ill try and list the queries I have clearly so you understand me.

The Report was clear, no defaults, none of my original debts, above mentioned, are showing. Nor are any CCJ's. Ive never recieved any letters mentioning CCJ's over the years I just assumed I would have... So if there are none mentioned in my report does this mean I have none?

I didnt mention in the other thread that, that I have a few more recent problems.

    1) A small debt of £35 which I am disputing with a past insurance company. 3 months old.

    2) A debt of less than £1000 with Barclays business account from around 2 years ago. Currently with a DCA. ( I have more q's regarding this debt but will go into it later on)

    3) A debt with the Princes trust of around the same value as above. Also around 2 years ago I defaulted. Ive had no letters from anyone mentioning this debt, so not sure who is in control of it now?

All of he above are not showing on my credit report???? Why is this? On top of that, the bank account that I have used for the last couple of years is not showing either?? Its an account Ive had since a kid so wasnt opened in recent years.

Another thing showing on my report is a linked address which is bizarre! Its an old friends adress and the source is Lloyds TSB dated 2005. But I know 100% that I have not applied for any credit with that bank in 2005 as one of my original debts from years earlier is with Lloyds???? Ive never lived at this adress either??

Back to my 2) Recent debt with barclays bank.

I accept this debt and wish to make contact with them to arrange a payment plan, As its only 2 years old. However...... The same DCA which hold this debt, also are in charge of some of my old old debts from years ago, and have fairly recently contacted me via letter offering me a reduced offer.

If I was to contact them regarding the recent debt, would this have any influence on my old debts with them. As none of my old debts are showing on my credit report Im assuming I can send them the letter stating that they are statute barred'? I dont want to jeapordise this by trying to sort out my recent debts?? If this makes sense??

The DCA in question is doing credit searches on me, on a monthly basis.

***Ive just checked myself on checkmyfile too and I seem to be clear on there too, however there is a credit card in my name to the adress mentioned above? opened 2002 and closed in 2006 with a clean history?? Bizarre!

***Also Ive just realised that I havent been on electoral roll since mid 2011. Will this be reason why none of the more recent debt are showing, or all of my past debts are not showing? Although none were defaulted after mid 2011

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi

Which country do you live in - Scottish law is different?

Do you understand the Statute of Limitations?

have you check Equifax and Callcredit?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

    Hi,

I havent checked equifax yet as Im waiting for them to confirm my id, although equifax do show on the checkmyfile that I done.

I am in England and I kind of understand the statute of limitations.

I have a feeling that most of my debts should be statute, but my recent ones not. Which is ok because I should be able to sort them out myself.

Its the fact that they, the new debts, are not showing anywhere thats puzzling me.

It means you have none less than six years old at the addresses you gave

I didnt mention in the other thread that, that I have a few more recent problems.

    1) A small debt of £35 which I am disputing with a past insurance company. 3 months old. Not likely to be on Experian

    2) A debt of less than £1000 with Barclays business account from around 2 years ago. Currently with a DCA. ( I have more q's regarding this debt but will go into it later on) I would expect them to report to Experian

    3) A debt with the Princes trust of around the same value as above. Also around 2 years ago I defaulted. Ive had no letters from anyone mentioning this debt, so not sure who is in control of it now? Wouldn't be on Experian and Princes trust are very non-aggressive with their loans. They'll just be disappointed in you!

It would probably encourage them to contact you about the older debts, but it wouldn't count as an acknowledgement of them.

The DCA in question is doing credit searches on me, on a monthly basis.

***Ive just checked myself on checkmyfile too and I seem to be clear on there too, however there is a credit card in my name to the adress mentioned above? opened 2002 and closed in 2006 with a clean history?? Bizarre!

Fatbelly, thanks for your advice throughout this thread, very very much appreciated.

So how would I find out if I have ccj's from over six years ago? Or neednt I bother, If they are not showing on credit checks from here on in, do they still have the potential to affect me adversly in the future?

So what does count as acknowledgement of a debt? Im worried about calling them to sort out the recent debt and they trick me into acknowledging them and the 6 years starting again. What do I say if they mention my old debts?

Any ideas as to why my recent debts and current bank account are not showing on any checks?

If I go back on electoral role may this cause any debts to show on checks in future or would they be on there anyway regardless? Would this trigger an alarm to DCA?

Thanks and apologies for the endless stream of questions!

    td23,
Remember to cancel the online accounts in good time before the 30 day free trial ends.

Personally, I always do the £2 postal requests.

    Good luck,

ccjs - there's no central record of older ccjs - even the Registry Trust only goes back six years, so there's nothing worth doing or worrying about.

Acknowledgement of a debt can only occur in two ways - by you making a payment or making a written acknowledgement. Phone calls don't count but someone writing or paying on your instructions (your 'agent') does.

I wouldn't recommend contacting creditors by phone. Do everything in writing.

Electoral roll - it's not going to make any difference to the creditors as they can see your address history but it does seem to make a difference to lenders if you want to apply for anything. It's Martin's number 1 tip for improving your credit rating
