    Which is an R85 equivalent (just as paper DD Mandates have virtually disappeared)? Any Bank doing it that way are required to write to you and tell you what you've signed up to ..... in R85 'speak'.

    And - yes - Lloyds are a pain. I sent them an R85 for my wife's account and they clearly just binned it. I eventually had to take one in to a Branch - and then keep ringing them until it was eventually applied.
    If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

    The most annoying thing is that because it was annual interest, I only noticed they hadn't registered the account for gross interest once it was too late. I had to fill out an R40 just to claim back ~£15, which is ridiculous.

    That's simply just a case of the banks spending money on the IT infrastructure.
    I can't answer why - except budget, priorities.
    Maybe it's not top priority for their IT spending.
