Reasonable expenditure?

Hi, getting things together for a DRO. Looking at the budget and wondered if the expenditure figures below seem reasonable for a single adult, no dependents (monthly).

Rent £350
- includes utilities, TV, contents insurance

Mobile phone £20
- pay as you go

Public Transport £32
-no car

Food and cleaning £160

Clothing and footwear £36

Laundry £8

Hair dressing £12

Dentist £4

Total expenditure - £622

There's nothing included for birthday gifts, leisure etc. is this something I should include? Anything else I've missed?

A big thank you for any help

Mark

That looks OK to me. Your Intermediary will 'group' the figures differently. Does that work in leaving you less than £50 per month surplus?
  • Thanks for taking a look. Not sure what you mean by grouped differently though? I did leave out the categories which I don't spend in- pets etc.

I'm currently out of work so that budget is optimistic.

    Thanks again

The headings for the applcation are:

    Other Secured Loans (£) 0
Mortgage Endowments and MPPI (£) 0
    Building & Contents Insurance (£) 0
Pension and Life Insurance (£) 0
    Council Tax (£) 0
    Gas (£) 0
    Electricity (£) 0
    Water (£) 0
    Other Utilities(Coal, Oil, Calor Gas) (£) 0
    TV Licence (£) 0
    Magistrate Court Fines (£) 0
Maintenance or Child support (£) 0
    Hire Purchase / Conditional Sale (£) 0
    Child Care Costs (£) 0
Disability And Care Costs (£) 0
    Monthly Total Phone (£) 0
    Monthly Total Travel (£) 0
    Monthly Total Housekeeping (£) 0
    Monthly Total Other Expenditure (£)

so it'll just need a bit of re-grouping. The numbers are OK.If you are getting housing benefit, just put the top-up for the rent.

But really if you're on JSA, the surplus income thing isn't going to be a problem.
