Accord Martogages anyone?

Anyone got good or bad experiences of Accord Mortgages?

I'm trying to ignore the complaints due to them being swamp under due to the end of the Stamp Duty Holiday and peeps with poor credit ratings etc.

Just want to know if they are best steered clear of.

If anyone tells you a lender is "swamped" because of the end of stamp duty then they are not in the industry, they just think they are smart. There was absolutely, 100% no "swamping" because of the end of stamp duty.

Accord (inc. YBS, Chelsea etc.) are a terrible lender. Their service levels are atrocious, their criteria is baffling but if you are a good bet and it's not urgent they will probably be able to help you. Once you come from the starting point that all lenders, all banks are awful then terrible is pretty much average.

If you have bad credit I would avoid them like the plague. I would avoid them if you have been in your overdraft recently.

As The J said, they are picky and slow.

Add in to that they pull rates and change rates way to often..

I have still put through business with them as sometimes their product offering is worth the wait...

    Oh dear

Well we don't have any defaults, don't use our overdrafts there is nothing on the financial side that would get in the way.

    Mmm

But I guess there is no such thing as a good mortgage company

  • We got knocked back by them, they seemed very picky and slow. We had a fast response and got accepted from Nationwide no problems on a similar rate.

We took a ten year fixed rate mortgage out with them five years ago, we haven't had any problem's with them at all in the last five years. Always find them really helpful if i ever call them, have always received my yearly statements ok I often overpay my mortgage and they always post me a reciept for the extra payment. Perhaps we have been lucky but i cannot fault ;).

Things have changed a fair bit in the last 5 years.

Yes I agree things have changed in the last five years, but I can only speak as I have found them and they have been fine with us.;)

I've been with them for six and a half a years, as above I've always found them helpful when contacting them. My only criticism is that there is no online servicing available - but they're always happy to answer any questions and provide details over the phone.
  • I was just about to ask this same question myself.

I'm a FTB searching for a mortgage as we speak. Went to see my mortgage broker today who has recommended I go for a 4.2% tracker with Nationwide. There are better rates available from Chelsea & YBS, but obviously these guys are Accord. Although quite a few Accord mortgages popped up in his software he's recommended against them. Described them as slow, picky and poor customer service. Nationwide on the other hand he said are top notch. Also, 3 months ago we applied for a joint mortgage and Accord turned us down. Admittedly we now think this is due to my partner not having a credit rating (only borrowing in the last 3yrs has been a mobile phone contract). On the one had the rates from Accord are up to 0.8% lower, but on the other hand I don't want to risk being turned down again, incase it will then affect my application with Nationwide.

All in all, everywhere I've looked for reviews regarding Accord the results have been negative.
