i left it for a few hours then i noticed that there was a red light instead of a green one on my Freeview box and the box is not working now . it is a Bush digital box from Argos and my TV is a Sanyo model
Somebody help me out please

As you have a Freeview box, you retune that for the switchover, not the TV.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Probably been bricked by the switchover, time for a new box. I'm assuming the Bush box is fairly old. Or it could be stuck in standby, try switching it off and on again at the wall and check if your remote is working.
To check remote point it at a digital camera/phone and you will see a blue/lilac glow when you press a button
Edit, Good point Heinz, did not read OP post properly. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

No i am not able to switch it on manually . Yes the batteries are inserted in the right way . Yes they are new batteries
When you switch it off and then on from the socket the light is green for about 1 - 2 seconds and then goes red0 -
It's going to standby when the light goes red. What do the instructions say?The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

So what happens when you power up the box from the remote? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

How did you check the remote is working? Did you try looking at its business end through a digital camera or phone? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Hard reset? Switch off at the wall, wait a couple of minutes and switch on again. Try doing that from the box, not the remote. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Nothing happens the red light stays on when you would expect it to go Green
Hi just wondered if u got it working. Mine is doing exactly the same. Have switched it on and on a dozen times no luck - staying red
sometimes a few moments of green as u switch on and then just red. Remote makes no difference.
Pressing power button on the box usually turns it green that is not working either. its an Alba freeview.
I am no geek guess it means new box : (Flying Donkeys- Do no harm to others and you will benefit in more ways than one.0
