I think they are glorified toys.
You may have one that is indeed a glorified toy but there are many that are not.
The steps the OP has stated are the well known and correct way of powering up/down any model heli or aeroplane/boat/car etc etc.
It would be nice to know what class heli it is though.
I am sorry that you have injured yourself but cannot understand how between lowering the throttle then going over to the heli to remove the cowl (once the blades had stopped spinning) to remove the battery that the blades manged to spin up to full speed or fast enough to chop your fingers, I think you have been rather unlucky.
You may get better help regarding the heli and its possible problems over at runryder, but probably a lot of flack to for buying a chinese copy of an Align heli (possibly).0 -
Just to set the record straight the canopy was not on and obviously the throttle was in the down position, the 3d toggle switch was off and the tx was about 4ft away from the helicopter,i won't name the make and model (you can pm if you like though)but its a 450 size,i had it running the previous evening with no concerns.Heliflyguy wrote: »You may have one that is indeed a glorified toy but there are many that are not.

my previous helis were a blade 400 3d/esky belt cp and not copies.0 -
Maybe the TX lost all power or the ESC somehow failed, I dont know what the 3rd toggle does, idle up possibly? so if this failed then I can see why it might go to full speed so quickly even with the throttle stick down.
Sorry cant help on the possiblity of a claim.
I do hope this doesnt put you off flying.0
