Head gasket gone, how much would I expect to get if selling for spares or repairs?

I bought my Peugeot 206 1.1 LX 2000 5 weeks ago from a private seller with 112K miles on the clock. A week after I bought it the clutch went, paid £200 to get the car back on the road, 2 weeks ago the starter motor went and I paid a further £115 to repair that. And now, the head gasket has gone and have been quoted £400 to fix, as reasonable as the price is I am not willing to pay it! I was contemplating scrapping the car, however I would only get £100 and despite the head gasket going the car still runs great and looks virtually new. Would it be worth selling the car for spares or repairs? How much would I expect to get? Or am I just chasing a lost cause?! Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you, Hannah.

Stick a bottle of this in it and drive on at it.

    It works amazingly well.

The car is worth little more than scrap value with the HG gone.

Could well have been put in there before you bought it.

Car sounds to me like a classic case of knackered car being sold by trader.

That might be the case but getting a few months out of the car might make it worth a shot.

How difficult is it to remove the head and have it skimmed if necessary, clean everything up and replace the gasket and bung new coolant in? After spending all that money, this is potentially the cheapest one to fix (assu8mong that the head is not cracked).

As it's still, "runs great" is the HG gone in the opinion of the person that has already taken you for £300+ on a recently acquired 12 year old car? Go to you local friendly independent and get them to check it over, ask if it's worth fixing and take it from there. If you have no mechanical skills yourself, if you get rid of this one now on this level of info., you will forever be on a treadmill of buying bangers, shelling out more money, replacing and repeat.

    its $400 difficult innit
which is a spot on amount for a h/g repair at a garage for one of these

How bad and noticeable is the gasket ?
Will it drive through and auction ring ?
