Parking CHARGE

Today I decided to read what exactly written on the board, that stands all over parking space in my local Tesco Extra. And I was really surprised to see that "you agree to pay 80 pounds CHARGE if you decide to park your car for more than 4hours"
Is that for real? I will try to get a picture today...

It's not a charge, it's a contractual penalty and can safety be ignored.
4 hours, that's more genious than some of the Tesco Extra's I have seen.0 -
Don't shop at Tesco. Simple.0

No, it's not for real, in that they can claim this, yet they don't actually provide you with a mechanism for paying said charge, e.g. a card machine. Kind of says it all, really.0 -
Anyone who spends more than 4 hours shopping in <insert name of store here> should be "sectioned".
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

If you park your car there, arent you actually agreeing to their terms, if not, why not.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Because the charge is disproportionate and way above any consequential loss in a free car park, the "contract" formed when someone parked there may well fall foul of UCTA, and any invoice for an overstay unenforceable, as there was zero loss.0 -
Be okay if you got club card points I suppose
NOT ! Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
But is £80 for 4 hours "reasonable"?
It smashes the record for the highest one I've heard of, at just £43 for 6 hours.
I bet it doesn't have "second billing" under the "Free Parking". I wouldn't expect any store to give it "top billing".
If I drove into a car park and saw "£80 for 4 hours", I don't think I'd dare to stop and read any more. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

You are agreeing by your actions, UCTA does not play any part where the charge is a core contract term (see bank charges ruling if you need further guidance)
The charge is clearly stated, <4hrs = Free .. >4Hrs = Charge
The payment mechanism is the charge notice/invoice (do you have to put 50p in your mobile phone when you make a call .. of course not, you get invoiced for it later)
Copied to prevent deletion. For the record, "ppeterson1750" is involved in a PPC.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

The payment mechanism might be the invoice, but that can safety be ignored. But then if someone did pay the £80 you would only come back asking for more money citing various "late" fees.
BTW ever heard of Pay as you Go phones?0
