I want to buy a laptop recommended by Which magazine
SAMSUNG Series 3 NP300E5A-A01DX 15.6" Laptop - Silver

but it seems to be end of line as having real difficulty finding it actually availalbe on line.
I've come across it at this online store called:

Discount Laptops Today...

Does anyone know this company and know if it is reliable to buy off?

thanks

Yes, that's the one, it won't let you do home delivery and all the stores I've tried to collect for Reserve & Pick Up say out of stock too.

The stock must be ghost stock or there's just one in Scotland or something random like that.

Same thing with Curry's of course.

    Why not this one

It's essentially the same one but with a worse camera, but a faster processor?

    Any reason why?

I was just going by the Which magazine recommendation.
Really know very very little about PC specs and trust their judgement.

My thought was if I strayed onto something I considered similar to the original suggestion, it could be completely different and what made X a great buy might not be so for Y if that makes sense.

    Thats fine,

But the new one I linked to has exactly the same configuration (same chassis, same motherboard (more than likely as it'll cost far more to redesign it inside when all they've done is put in a faster processor), same everything except for the video camera (which you can also buy a after market one if required) but a faster processor.

The processor is still a 2nd generation (Sandy Bridge) but Samsung have for whatever reason decided to update their original offering of the A01DX, either they couldn't get the webcam anymore or the processors were discontinued so everything else is the same, except the processor (better) and the webcam (worse).

If it was a different manufacture sure, if it was a different series sure, I'd be hesitant (not really as I fortunately/unfortunately do support for a living), but it's still the same manufacture, still the same series of laptop, just minor tweaks, which over time is expected. The original A10DX is over 4 months old now.

Thank you for your thoughts so far.
So in short, you'd say they're much the same.
I'm 80/90% going to be using it for internet usage with a little bit of Word/Excel I suppose every now and again.
If you had the choice, would you say this is the better bet or the original one cheaper by £25. I doubt I'll be using webcam so that's not a bother to me.

As long as it lasts me for a good few years and does the basics, that's all I'm concerned about which was why I went for the cheapest they could recommend.

I was bought an Atlas Flyer 3400 a long time ago but it's now ancient (10 years old) so needs replacing.

    Cazs,
The better the processor the quicker things generally run. I'd always go for a better processor over a better webcam. As stated by coolhotcold you can upgrade the webcam at a later date pretty cheap but not upgrade the processor with ease!

For the sake of £25 I'd buy from a shop that has a physical presence if anything does go wrong, and it's faster to boot.

Just remember No laptop or desktop nowadays comes with Word/Excel so you either need to purchase them or have them already or use a alternative program to fufill your needs.

If your set on buying one that Which recommended, buy the updated version, the hardware will be the same except for the above differences.

    Okay, I'll do that then.
I want to go with their recommendation just because I don't know enough to be able to spot the top buys for myself :-)

Unless, you, in your role, can suggest other similar budget machines that are a good buy...
