They are getting better but would say they need to have more for kids to do during the day but apart from that i would say things are looking up for Pontins now.

Also love the happy hour between 5pm and 7pm they do in the pub £1.90 a pint.

To add some balance to my earlier post - Pontins wasn't all bad - I booked a training course for work at their conference centre once, and the meals they provided really were rather good - unfortunately it appears they'd neglected some aspects of the camp (a visitor died of Legionnaire's disease after a holiday there shortly before it closed - hot water supplies contaminated and not kept hot enough) - but everything I've heard suggests they've since significantly improved their remaining sites.

Apparently they pulled out with next to no notice because the landowner wouldn't renew the lease (or charged an exhorbitant rent) - this happened mid-season, people who'd already booked had their holidays cancelled.

It was supposed to be redeveloped for housing but it's controversial and nothing's happened yet - after all, who'd want to live right at the end of an airport runway?

Hi Billy. The food was delicious!! We normally frequent Prest'n and S'port but we had a couple of weekends at Blackpool and the food was great; couldn't fault it. In fact we went expecting school dinner type meals and were pleasantly surprised.

We were told that the owner of the land, who leased it to Pontins, had been offered a large sum of money by the airport for the land, so the owner had then significantly upped the lease price when it came up for renewal, meaning it was not financially viable for Pontins to renew it. (Esp given the fact that the following year they went into administration; they must have know things weren't good anyway)
I wondered how the airport would use the land, given there is a railway track running right across the adjoining land. I have been informed they want to extend the runways over the railway! Whether this is true or not remains to be seen, but it is sad to see it in such a state.
I did hear about something to do with legionnaires, but hey you hear of illnesses all over the place. We always go self catering at the other parks anyway. Our kids just love it. They're both teenagers but it's their favourite place!
