Hi everyone, good afternoon hope you all had a good Easter. Could anyone give me some rough ideas of the cheapest places in England to live? just interested how much house prices/rent are for other parts of the country? I live In Devon and the going rate for a 3 bed property is £600 or £700 a month and house prices are crazy. Im not that struck with where I live either tbh:o

Stoke-on-Trent has got to be somewhere near the bottom where house prices are concerned. Not sure about rental values. As a city it's not the best place to live, but it has improved in the 45 years I've lived here. No smokey chimneys or industrial spoil heaps any more and the roads are better (A50, A500), but the mines have all shut as has much of the pottery industry.
We now have loads of distribution jobs but many of these are agency work. Being centrally located and at the heart of the national road and rail network means we can escape easily in most directions, but only temporarily due to being financially tied here by the low house prices.
It's not all bad news though.....we have the Peak District and Staffordshire Moorlands right on our doorstep, and East Midlands, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham airports all within an hours drive.Never trust a financial institution.

yorkshire is lovely and cheaper than down south - moved here from Sussex. There are very expensive pockets and some very cheap not so nice areas too. Beautiful countryside, the only thing I miss is seaside - its a long way to the coast where i amPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I like the countryside!
Where I am living (South East/on the south coast) £600 or £700 a month rent would get you a 2-bed flat, in the private sector. I am not sure about inexpensive, good places to live. Lots of areas are much cheaper, but they are often what's termed as "less desirable" and of course there are other factors to consider then, like more expensive insurance and risk to personal safety, etc, which would soon make up for the lower rent.0 -
blimey the cheapest 3 bed where i live is 750.
Wish we could move.0
