....I currently have the LG Optimus, which cost me about £70 18 months ago, I am looking for something a bit quicker,...
What Optimus? There are at least 4 different 'Optimus'.

Well, for this phone £70 is far too good price even now. I don't see it cheaper than £200 anywhere.
Re the speed, it's processor is 600 MHz, but in reality the performance depends not only on the CPU speed.

The cheapest 800 MHz I know are Orange San Francisco 2 and T-mobile Vivacity for about £100. Both locked to the corresponding network.

The cheapest 1000MHz is Huawei Ascend g300 exclusively this Friday @ Vodafone for £100

The USB charger on my Orange San Francisco I (first gen) broke last night. Off to the Orange shop at lunch today.

The Orange San Francisco II on sale for £89.99
Promotion today (this week?) to get £10 off phone purchase when you use your phone fund (which I had £8.50 in).
They force you to buy £10 top-up for PAYG.

So, all in, this upgrade to my wonderful SF was just £81.49. Bargain.

Info about updating the phone (careful about warranty) is at sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk

I think the Huawei Ascend G300 is way ahead of everything else in its price range.
    Can I help?
