High Street bank - Lost paperwork??

They will have electronic records or cheques to show what has been lent to you.
Are you saying that you received a different amount to what shows on the statement?
Why has this only just come to light?0 -

Copies of all documentation would have been sent to applicant as well. So blame cannot be passed solely to the lender. If the applicant cannot support their own accusation then dilutes the case somewhat.
As it would be impossible to prove that the terms differ.0 -
Isn't everything sent, scanned onto systems.
Only bits scribbled onto A4 or post it notea would not make it onto the systems.
The only problem I think you have is if the loan started in the 80's perhaps.0 -
Within 3-4 years maximum - we will pressure the bank to find the paperwork, I presume that they will be in some form of trouble if they have indeed lost it all?0

Should make it clear - currently the lender is not the target here, I have reason to believe paperwork has been tampered with before it got to the lender. And statements/confirmations intercepted (at a local level not at the lenders end!) in the meantime.
The above advice is very helpful, I will see if we can make the request once more for the original paperwork before getting heavy handed!

Cheers.
Not sure what this will achieve you.0 -
Well I have found out a moment ago from elsewhere that the regulatory bodies will be less than chuffed if they have lost an entire file :-)
Might make them look at little harder0 -

Doesn't mean that recourse for your friend will be any better though. As that no doubt is the outcome you are seeking.0 -
True - but if it means we can ensure that the paperwork is found, it will help :-)0

Fed up of secretive threads like this.
If you think the ex has nicked some money see the police or a solicitor.0
