I would strongly urge you to include availability on your site. One of the most frustrating things I find is locating a place to stay only to find I've got to ring up and see if a room is free. I don't ring up and move on to the next place.

I think you are right that's frustrating. But it will mean an upgrade in software, and i know from experience that b and b's like to have a calendar with a pencil and pen, not many like to do things on the computer.

Depends how much you want to spend? you can buy some hotel software and link your website to that to show availability but you will definitely need a web designer to do that.
    ewwwww what is that...

We are a small b&b , just 3 rooms.our turn over isnt huge by any means, so keeping the website at a reasonable cost is essential, we cant afford a hugeamount on technical stuff that we dont need and wont use. We arent a hotel and want to keep the personnal interaction with our guests, as after all, they are staying in our house.
I dont see it as a problem for guests to ring us up to see if we have vacancies, and would rather they did, as then both parties know details are correct! An email link would suffice.

nice, so should be easy to manage, so all you need are a couple of pages nice pictures some text and a contact form.

no need for you to go overboard with the computer software if all you have are three rooms to let.

Can anybody recommend where or who to get a website designed for cheap from?

From reading this thread i can understand that i need to buy the domain and hosting myself. I dont have time to build it myself, it would be about 12 pages long and need a credit/debit/paypal order system on it...

I dont want to hijack the OP's thread but didnt want to start a new one either.

As steve has said £100 is fine with me

Not looking to spend £500 and then hosting and domain name on top.

If i provide all the literature, pictures, contact details, and banner/logo....isnt it easy for somebody to just upload them?

Also what about on going running of the website? Often websites have problems with pages loading and cart ordering....would i then have to do that maintenance myself? I guess for £100 i would! lol
