.. I'd much rather be getting my cashback given the amount I spend on petrol!
Plus £20.20 cashback if you apply through Topcashback

You could be getting 3% cashback on your petrol spend with the new Santander 123 credit card.
Indeed, but I wouldn't touch Santander with a barge poleWay too many horror stories from friends on their shoddy customer service, and there's no way I'm paying an annual fee for the privilege!
Thanks to everyone for the replies; i've got a halifax clarity reward card so will just use this instead for my petrol as catwoman73 suggests.0 -
I have the same problem with a Halifax Electron card. Wont let me use the pump, but will accept it in the kiosk. I imagine it's because they try to reserve £100 or so (they seem to on my other cards) and there's never that much in there.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Morrisons reserve £1 then bill you the full amount later. Same for debit or credit cards. I tried both and confirmed balance Beforeband after.:beer:0

This issue is nothing to do with available credit and everything to do with Barclaycard's implementation of the egg switchover.
I have £4.5k available credit on my ex-egg Barclaycard and have never been able to use it at pay-at-pump machines (or to top up an Asda mobile either).
These issues have been raised on these forums (and with Barclaycard without any resolution). I have to carry a second credit card just in case I need to fill up out of hours.
Very disappointing service from one of the largest card issuers in the UK.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

But it's capped, and there's an annual fee... I'd rather stick with a 1% unlimited cashback card. Also, some supermarket petrol pumps are wrongly classified as supermarket spend rather than petrol by the Santander card0
