I have a few bits to get this morning to make some lovely Portuguese custard cakes, cheap and delicious... Plus will get normal shopping, think the bits I need will be £10ish. Then Tues will get a few more things, may be another £10...

My family are taking me to the pub for Sunday lunch for Mother's day. Lovely aren't they?
Two of them have now told me that although they have booked table etc. they have no money!!

Now, they want to do jobs around the house, I pay them, then they buy me lunch! As I include eating out as part of my grocery budget I am now not sure whether I count Mothers day lunch for me and the rest of the family into my budget!

End of week 2 and I just scraped under the wire with £94.37!:T

Half way through week 3 and only spent £48 .50. However, not counting the easter eggs I bought in the Tesco BOGOF offer, or Mothers Day meal later today which would just blow the whole thing out of the water!!!

Becoming increasingly worried about Tescos coupon policy. if they stop accepting coupons I will really struggle with the budget. (Another £5 of coupons used this week, probably an amature by MSE standards, but I'm learning!).:o

well it all gone a bit pete tong. but for one month i don't mind. ever since my freezer defrosted i have nevered filled it back up. and each week it always looks empty. so on friday my daughter ( age 3) and i went food shopping. she had a whale of a time. and we spent £203. but hey both freezers are full and we both had a great time. left hubby and son at home . would prob of spent more if the boys had been with me.

so this month i have prob spent about £450 in total. but one bad month in ages can't be bad. and gonna try and keep everything all stock up again , so i never get as low like i had.

OK blown the budget this month mainly due to DH's bread/milk trips to the local Tesco's express where fresh pastries/cheese straws and danishes are temptingly available :rotfl: Shouldn't laugh really as he went 4 times and spent on average £8 each time

    March Budget £300

    First Week £114:58
    Second Week £118.30
    Third week £96:97

    Total £329.85

Just need milk next week and guess what DH is not going, I am :rotfl:

Hiya Kiwi - I know what you mean... we have noticed that when Mr EL goes shopping the budget never gets stuck to... the other day I mentioned that over the past few months with savings here and there and also shopping savings, I have been able to squirrel away £150 towards our upcoming move. He was gobsmacked! I said that I know we never have luxuries as such, but then again we like everything we buy and also don't throw food away. he agreed and said that if we can keep saving the odd amount it's better to do that and then use than money for something nice, than wasting food etc. i was chuffed and so was he - result!

I learnt a long time ago not to let DH do monthly shop as he came back with loads of 'interesting' things, and wanted to know why we didn't usually buy items like that. Needless to say the bill was double what it would have cost me.

But,I sent my DH to Co-op for a few things on Sunday and he came back with two huge bags of Maltesers!! Definitely not on my shopping list. DSs2and 3 spent £46.79 at Aldi yesterday and kept to list except for some 'energy drink', but they do shopping after school for me so I guess they can have that as a treat.
