My son left his passport in his trouser pocket after a heavy night out & very carefully folded all his clothes into the laundry basket to prove he was sober ....that cost his a new passport

As Pollycat says, it would be far better to find some other form of I.D. There is no way I'd take my passport with me on a night out!! Mind, I'd just be bloody grateful if someone asked me for ID now! :D

My son always had the same problem, and he had a card thingio with his photo on it, you could get the forms in pubs and offies. I don't know if they have them now, it was a few years ago.

All goes to show that no good can come of a bloke folding his clothes and putting them in a laundry basket.

The barmaid appears to have taken a little bit of knowledge, applied it wrongly, and proceeded to demonstrate her skills at rectal ventriloquisation. :rotfl:

I don't think there's anything wrong with your son's passport.

I'd just like to say that this has to be the quote of the month :rotfl:

And regards the passport, the new ones also have some thin copper wires attached so allow all the new readable gubbins.
She might have bought a new passport recently and had a look at the lad's pp and thought that every single pp automatically should all be like that now.
In other words, she got it a bit Pete Tong.
Course, I once got refused service in a bar because I showed my photo driver licence, and because I did my hair different, the barmaid refused to believe it was me. I didn't think the photo or my hairstyle was that bad :(

Is this a man thing? My husband folds his clothes before putting them in the laundry basket? Why? I just chuck mine in. What's the point in folding them? They're about to be jiggled about in the machine.

Barmaids aren't the brightest. I've had them tell me that drinking beer through a straw increases the alcohol content, and that mixing lager and cider creates a drink in which the alcohol is greater than the sum of its parts. I wish this were true as it would have been an excellent MSE drinking tip that could have saved me a fortune over the years!

When my laundry basket looks like it's vomited onto the floor, but there's rain forecast/ the heating's not on/ I cba to do laundry I will refold everything into the basket so as to make enough room for it all. It's actually very mse as it means no tumble- drying.... :p

Oh, and I'm a woman... (Usually it's all thrown in though.)
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
  • I think when the barmaid phoned the police they probably had a quiet word in her ear about wasting their time. Hence their no show. Lets all just hope she doesn't decide to jack in being a barmaid and apply to work at border control. Imagine the chaos the bright spark could cause at an airport _pale_

Has your son travelled on this passport? If so and he has got in and out the country on it there is nothing wrong with it at all.
