i had same problem, uninstalled it through add/remove then it kept coming back on reboot..i downloaded norton removal tool from symantec (thats saying something!) and it took aaaaaages but got rid of the lot. (cant remember if norton itself had an uninstall but if it did i tried that first too) norton drives me mad. ive used avast for over a year now and had 1 virus in all that time, which it killed straight off.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

To get rid of norton i simply deleted the norton update from the add/remove program and then the main program worked for moi.0

Having two anti virus packages installed can cause major problems which is why you are only meant to have one at a time. When you install a new one you MUST completely uninstall the old one and not have two installed at the same time."She is quite the oddball. I will remove the AVG as it is due to expire in 15 days. When I installed Norton on the laptop AVG was already there so it should have puck up on the viruses.0 -

Considering there were 2 AV programs running at the same time I don't think you could say anything for definite and my guess is that they are more likely to be false positives. All the tests I've seen show AVG to be better than Norton at detecting viruses. Was your AVG kept up to date? Also if you were using the free version of AVG then it wouldn't expire. Norton also takes a lot more resources as well as being far too expensive for what it does."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

AVG strongly recommended here - DON'T use Norton! You're better off with no anti-virus software! No longer visiting these forums.0
