I never bother with make-up, i'm always knackered and the notion of swapping 15 minutes in a comfy warm bed for 15 minutes in front of the mirror in our baltic bathroom .....well, it's a non-starter.

That said, i occasionally catch a glimps of meself in a shop window and briefly wonder who on earth is that badly dressed space hopper ! :rotfl:

Oh my god we're the same person

I got on the bus once to be told 'you look nice' which was freaky because I.hadnt even brushed my hair and was wearing clothes i had dragged out from the pile under the bed :o I do wonder if the person who said it thought 'what a monster, best be nice before she tries to eat me' :rotfl:

I haven't got the time to worry about how I look to be honest, when I have free time I spend it here or sleeping :o
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession :o:o

Did anyone watch that programme on Ch4 where the British teens went to stay with the Amish communities? The blond girl (who actually looked fine without make-up!) said if that if she was going out somewhere back home in the UK she would always have to doll herself up, maybe from peer pressure, or because it's just expected of a girl that age. I think some of them got to quite like not wearing make-up when they were staying with the Amish, and to be free of the pressure to look or act in a certain way.

I think theres a such a broad range, some girls look great natural, with me its not a pretty sight. I wear makeup that looks natural i.e. foundation the same colour as my skin and a bit of mascara. Most people are suprised when i say i wear makeup daily but im often complimented on my complection. I think theres a huge difference between a natural look (whether it be makeup or not), totally made up ott and just not made an effort at all. I would think a huge % of men prefer naturally beautiful girls over plastic but then others would like the fake look. Its the same with clothes and hair, you get the ott constantly dressed to impressed girls with extentions and fake nails, theres the made an effort, tidy and smart girls then theres the ones that have flung on old, mis-matched clothes, bad unkept hair, skin and nails.

I would say a lot men like natural looks but there are different degrees of natural.

I don't pile it on, but what I use does make a real difference.

    Yep.

I can't understand why some people don't use a wee bit off make up as applied properly it can make you look 100% better.

I'll do anything i can to look nicer.

I'm not talking TOWIE style slap, but evening out of skintone, a little bit of eye make up to bring out eye colour and a healthy pink glow.
I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler

vfM I don't wear make up because I choose not to.
I'm not lazy and am certainly not vain, I just have allergies and can not afford expensive products when I don't feel I need them.
I am who I am scruffy hair and all, maybe even a bit of a frump! but am happy go lucky and like a good laugh and am thankful that customers come to my till for a laugh and comment about me being friendly, that's good enough for me.
(not that I ever was pretty, but look aren't everything)
If you want to pile it on then good for you, that's your choice, enjoy it, but not all of us have that choice.
btw my hubby is not that bothered and even my mum only every put some lippy on when going out and my dad loved here just as she was.

I would say a lot men like natural looks but there are different degrees of natural.

I think men don't have a clue what 'the natural look' means. In my own experience they tend to be less keen on no make up and prefer a more natural make up where good bits are enhanced and perceived bad bits are disguised.

I have seen magazine articles where men have been shown pics of women with no make up, some make up and totally made up and the middle one seems to win out each time.

Personally I never leave the house without makeup and value the confidence it gives me but try not to plaster it on...

I think it's a shame that young people feel they have to wear lots of make up.....it's the time in their life when they have lovely smooth skin, that they don't need any!

That is the irony of youth: young people worry so much about weather or not they are attractive enough and don't realise, a huge part of being attractive is related to simply being young hence most of the beauty products out there being about clawing back the years and keeping age as far away as possible.
