ID for SAGA 1Yr fixed ISA

Hello All
As I write Saga's telephones are closed, the website is down for maintenance nor can I find what I want via the Birmingham Midshires site so hope I can get an answer here.
Simply, I'm interested in Saga's fixed 3.6% offer. Never had a Saga product so they'll need some ID.
Can anyone tell me what forms of ID will be needed, at what stage are they required, are photocopies accepted (I'm not keen on sending original docs through the post), and would they accept scanned email attachments?

Great minds think alike! Hubby rang them yesterday to open an account.

They ask you all the details over the phone and then send you the forms to check, sign and return (with ID if required), usually something to ID name and something to ID address. The usual stuff, copy of D/Licence, bills, tax return etc.

They try to electronically ID you, instantly over the phone, if you ask, failing that, as in the case of hubbie who NEVER comes up via electronic ID, return photo copies of ID with signed application. Not sure if they'd accept scanned ID, especially as the application form needs returning to them in anycase. Think they could get separated in the application process.

Despite him having B Midshire accounts and Saga coming under 'their' umbrella, thats about where their contact with each other ends, therfore they cannot link info from a B Midshire account for ID purposes..

    Hope this helps :)

    Maybe not....

I've never had a Saga product before but they didn't need any ID whatsoever when I opened their ISA on 31 March just gone.

Name, address, Date of birth and NI number on their application form and bingo... account opened by return and financed by cheque.

It may depend on whether you are on the electoral roll etc.

They didnt even do a search/credit check on my credit file. (I get the free notifications/updates from Experian as a Capital One credit card holder.)

Thanks for that Kar & New York. Sounds like if ID is needed then copies will suffice which is assuring. I'll contact them Tuesday and post again if anything useful to add.
    Cheers
