Honestly, I despair at the logic sometimes. I had shopping delivered this morning from Tesco.
Everything was fine, three substitutions - two of which were acceptable. The third? Well!
I had ordered a joint of meat weighing 1.2kg. This was unavailable, so the substitute they gave me?? A similar joint but weighing 640g!
Seriously - I order 1.2kg of meat and they think I'll be happy with half that amount? If I wanted 640g, that's what I would have ordered!
The substituted item would have been perfectly acceptable. Why not send two of them? There would have been no difference to the finances as the joint I ordered was £10 and the substituted one was £5.
This just reminded me why I stopped internet grocery shopping. Where is the logic?

I've had the same today - doing a big lunch tomorrow, had the order placed for 3 weeks ( ocado) , a nice 3kg piece of organic pork in there and it doesn't turn up - out of stock! I also ordered chocolate mini eggs to put on top of a dessert - no eggs or sustitution - what supermarket chain doesn't have chocolate mini eggs the day before easter!0

Good to know I am not the only one who experiences this! A few weeks ago I had to go instore to get another of something to make up enough, spoke to Customer services who advised me to call raise the issue with the telephone helpline. Which I did and got a £5 voucher for my trouble.
I just politely pointed out to them that I had ordered delivery for conveinience. I had paid for delivey and still ended up having to go instore to get the required amount. Whilst instore they had the correct size of my original order on the shelf!! Considering this is my local store that does the . com deliveries they must have had them in stock at time of my picking. So not only did I have to make an inconvienient trip into the store I had to pay petrol as well when I had already paid for delivery
Hence the £5 refund, every little helps I suppose!Failure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.
If its important to you, you'll find a way - if not, you'll find an excuse ! ~ Easy to say when you take money out of the equation!

this is why I stopped online shopping too. I once ordered some spaghetti, some mince and some parmesean, obviously to make spag bol but the mince didnt arrive. When I phoned up to say I now could not make the spag bol I was told to go to the store to buy some mince and "they could refund me for it as I hadn't been charged". I stated I at no point had asked for a refund and wouldnt anyway as I had not been charged for the mince, but I would have to get a bus and a tram each way to the shop which would obviously cost money and negate the point of having it home delivered. the guy then said "we're not psychic, we don't know what you're going to make for dinner!" unbelievable!0

The shopper isnt aware of what other items you had ordered, for all the person knows who picked the spaghetti is that you already had the mince and same for the person who picked the parmesan, they just have no idea what each customer has ordered as the store is spluit into sections eg fresh, grocery, non food etc etc.
I understand how it can be frustrating when you dont get what you ordered(im an internet shopper) as I have to make decisions when an item isn't in stock, had to decide today which 3 easter eggs to offer as a sub, i had no idea if the 3 eggs were for 3 girls or boys etc so chose 3 eggs that i felt were suitable for both boy and girl.0 -
i used to do my online shop with Tesco and I was always very happy with the service. Not once did I have cause to complain. It was when I switched to ASDA that the problem started. Delivery not turning up, poor substitutions, things missing. Refunds are absolutely pointless too, because your no further forward than you were when you started. I want my food to turn up, or else I wouldn't have ordered it!
I ALWAYS complain if there's anything I'm unhappy with, and urge you to do the same, I've been went two £10 vouchers and a even a £20 one once. Sometimes you find yourself willing things to go wrong so you can complain and get a voucher!! haaa!0 -

Well, the man had a very valid point. How do they know what you're having for dinner?!0 -

oh I understand your point completely - I just think the operator's comment was really rude!0 -
Unusually for me I've had all the online shopping I ordered from Tesco, Sainsbury and Ocado.
Ocado were a bit confusing as I ordered 3 x sponge cleaners and 3 x bleaches thinking I'd get 1 sponge and 1 bleach free. (3 for 2 deal, cheapest free)
I am scratching my head as they gave me 2 sponges free (cheapest item free x 2)
Confusing how the deal lumps all 6 items together.0 -
I ordered 2 packs of Tesco frozen chicken in breadcrumbs thingies a few months ago. There were 4 in each pack. Total 8 pieces of chicken.
It was out of stock, so instead they sent me 2 packs of Birds Eye and price matched it. But the Birds Eye only had 2 pieces in each.
So they were trying to charge me the price of 8 pieces of chicken for just 4.0 -
My other half used to work in the home shopping department and his manager told him there was going to be an investigation because a member of staff had substituted tampons with mayonaise!!0
