New version Sky remote

Hi

We have finaly upgraded our old TV to a Technika 32" flatscreen. We have found out that our Sky remote isnt compatible with it. The instruction manual says that we need a newer Sky+ remote issued from 2010 (REV9) for it to be calibrated to the new TV.

Please can anyone tell me where I can get one from?

Also we are considering upgrading to Sky+ HD now we have a HD ready TV. Is it really worth it for the extra £10 a month?

If we did upgrade would we automaticaly receive the up to date remote (which would obviously save us paying out for a new one as well and save us some money)??

Thanks in advance :)

My daughter bought one in Asda for £20 yesterday. Her's is an old sky plus box with a newish flat screen tv. It said on the packaging that she will need to program it but it worked straight out of the box, no fiddling required

That's lucky for her, ours definately needs upgrading as we have tried everything and the directions with the TV even advise us we need a new remote.

Not unless you have a 40 inch screen or larger, or want to watch Sky Sports F1

Thanks. Why does the TV have to be so big to appreciate HD?

We have a 32" and hubby likes F1 so if its 'included' thats ok with him :)

Because your eyes cant see the difference at normal viewing distances if the screen is not big enough.
There is a graph that relates resolution to screen size and viewing distance.

Sky+ Revision 9 remotes are available from most satellite TV suppliers:
