Phones 4U / Virgin Mobile

Apologies if repeat posting, but has anyone had problems getting their "free" airtime credited to their account? I bought a PAYG phone from Phones 4U in December and part of the deal was £30 airtime to be added in three, monthly instalments, starting in the month after the first call was made. Well, nothing happened at the end of January, and after a lengthy call to Virgin, I was (grudgingly) given £10 credit. Virgin said that they could find no record of this promotion. No credit this month either. Phones 4U don't respond to emails and Virgin don't really want to know.....aaargh:mad: Any suggestions?

I got the same offer and have kept a print out of the web pages. When I phones virgin to credit my phone with £5, I asked about the £30 credit and the guy contacted a manager, but then came back to me and said no promotions were showing on the account. He said contact Virgin on an 0870 number if no credit applied or go back to Phones 4 u. I have read atleast one person on here who has the same deal and the virgin customer services told him over the phone the dates when the credit would be applied so I think both of us are not going to get it. I have the pages somewhere so I better start looking for them ....

When you bought the phone you enetered into a contract with phones4u. Now if you go to Phones4U they may say contact Virgin who will say contact phones4u and try to pass the buck that way. Best thing to do is contact trading standards and write phones4u a letter stating they have breached the terms of their contract with you and you are giving them 28 days to correct the situation, or you will seek legal action to recover your £30.

Thanks Saeed. In fact I tried emailing Virgin again last week and success! Obviously, whoever received my message had a little more sense and initiative and my account has been credited with the remaining £20 due ie £30 altogether. A result! :T And still no response from Phones 4U:sad:

    Good on you!
  • Is anyone else still having trouble with this offer?

I've had the phone since 3/1/07 topped up with £20 used the phone but no £10's credit. I naively assumed that they would top it up at the end of each month, but no! And haven't bothered to chase it up until today..

Talked at length to Phones4U who eventually persuaded me to talk to Virgin.

After loads of questions and giving the IMEI number etc, the say the phone is ineligible for the £30 credit. And could I post the documentation as they don't have any record of the offer!?

Back to Phones4U, after going through the whole process again speak to a very helpful chap. He offers to ring Virgin and put them right, and call me back.

He actually calls back (!!) about a hour later to tell me he's got nowhere, but will escalate the matter to the Marketing Manager, and will call back in 2-3 days, to let me know the outcome.

So at the moment Virgin 0/10, Phones4U 10/10 for effort. Will post update.

I am also due a £10 credit. No sign of it so far. Will be getting on their case soon. Post back how you get on
  • Did anyone keep a copy of the web page promising the £30 credit specifically for the Nokia 1112? It doesn't appear on my invoice.

I called Virgin and they credited me with the £30 immediately over the phone after giving them the IMEI and my virgin phone number. Maybe Phones4U have tried to pull a fast one ... they do not seem the most honest of companies from reading the posts on here. Mrsobvious, I think I have the pages somewhere of the original offer or they may still be on the virgin t&c's on the phones4u site. PM if you need them and I'll try and dig them out for you!
