Iomega are doing some pretty good deals on theres.

320GB for about £79 which is pretty good going. Note that this needs a separate power supply so it isn't suitable for laptop users who run their laptops mainly off batteries.

Another vote for a Western Digital My Book (the one at maplin isn't a mybook btw not sure if there is a large amount of difference though).

Had mine for a while and no problems - nice and fast and quiet too!

I think it's an older model pre-MyBook marketing/branding and why it would have come down a lot in price, so it should be too different internally.

I'd definitely go for a Western Digital Mybook, don't know of any specific deals at the moment but I think they're pretty good value for very high quality manufacturer.

I've always been a bit wary of WD drives since I had quite a few failures with different drives about 8 years ago, however I've heard and seen very good things about the MyBook. So much so, I'm thinking of getting one!

Lacie gets my vote. Their prices are competitive and they come in many different shapes and sizes for all applications and uses.

I'd give the My Book another vote.

I have 3 external USB HD's, 2 generic boxes from ebay in which I plugged in off-the-shelf drives, and a 320GB My Book.

My Book wins hands down for one-killer feature - it powers down when not in use, either when the host pc is off, or when no files have been accessed for a while.

    Hope this helps!
