Is there anyway I can get a S/O returned? I have now paid my rent twice (or will shortly have) for this month which I cant afford to do. Natwest made the payment even though my basic account balance was £0.
Rent = £650
Natwest S/O cancelled but still went through = -£650
RSB S/O due out on 11th
So RBS couldn't stop the transaction so I thought best to transfer amount to Natwest to cover the - figure. Spoke to Natwest and they stopped/returned the S/O so the money shall be in my account on the next working day :) The S/O from RBS isn't due out till 11th so I'll transfer it back on Tuesday. Teach me to act to quickly lol

    I'd expect Natwest will bounce the SO with reason 'Insufficient funds', but they will most likely charge for this.

    Has this happened today? if the transaction is dated for 10 April the bank will be able to reverse it for you. If there is not enough funds in your account it will returned unpaid anyway on Tuesday.

    Yep dated the 10th and thankfully the bank have done so even though RSB said they couldn't!

    Why is it that a transfer into my account is there within seconds but a return takes days :(

    Its the sending bank that would have to make the amendments:

    Meaning if you wanted to change the details or cancel the S/O before it reached the recipient.

    I have cancelled it online with Natwest as it was set up with RBS which is my new bank account. RBS has now been cancelled but due out on 11th so told it will still go through.

    So is the S/O going from Natwest to RBS.

    Im presuming the bank have cancelled/reversed the S/O so it will be reversed back into your account.

    If the funds was not available to pay the S/O nothing would have gone anywhere.

    Least you have go it sorted now :cool:
