Are you on the work programme? they may help with road tax but i doubt insurance. Other than that I think they may fund public transport but not you own car.

What do you need your car to get about for? Is it long distances or just short ones? Is it in an area with a good bus network (i.e. could you get a travel card instead?).

In the interview, did you tell them you have use of a car in order to get the job?

Could you not borrow money off someone?

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If you have said you have a car, it's not tricky, you need to get it insured, or the job won't exist

Insurance can be paid for on a monthly basis so initial outlay relatively small. minimum tax is for 6 months so if you've not the cash to hand you will need to get a loan or pay for on credit card.
Even if it means going overdrawn till your first pay (with the banks agreement or it might be costly) - it could be worth it to get the job? Try citizens advice bureau to see if there are any other options open to you.

Find out in advance of starting your job if you will need to use your own car in the first week(if you can manage otherwise for your own needs on public transport. Once you have started your job explain your financial difficulty to your employer if they have a scheme to advance you pay or can give any other help. Large organisations sometimes have a facility some smaller ones might be sympathetic, but start your job first so that you have employment protection.

Be positive and explore all options!

Make sure you get the right kind of insurance - if you don't insure for business use, you'll not be able to ferry clients around.

I don't think hcb42 was being unhelpful, just pointing out a fact. Your solution is to sort the car out if you want the job. Can't you borrow money from a family member, even if just to tide you over until you get your first months pay?

I was pointing out a fact, you did say you had a car, so it is now a bit late to expect someone else to finance it. I agree with prev poster, tap up family for a short term loan and ensure you have business use.
