Wireless connection problem.

Many thanks for sharing your time effort and knowledge so far, still having problems but my AOL is in a mess at the moment so going to try and sort that out before i go any further with my wireless connection.

AOL is always a mess , you don't need it so get rid and just use a standard browser for your internet.0 -
i use aol 2mb silver with a bt line.
also got a netgear wifi router.
i never ever see aol on my screen! my home page is google. ive no real idea what my aol user name is, nor my password! its all in the router.
i never use my aol email account, i use a yahoo account.
aol is great when you dont have the crap SW on your puter.Get some gorm.0 -

This is a good thing to check for people that arent aware of this. Often times the router can be configured with a specific channel (my linksys for example broadcasts on channel 6) however recently staying at a friends house I couldn't find his wireless network even though we changed his settings to broadcast SSID.
The solution was indeed that the channel on the router had been changed by the person who set it up to be on channel 11 or there abouts which wasnt detectable by the built in wifi card on my DELL laptop. Simply changing the channel to one lower in the range immediately meant the laptop could see the signal and was happy as larry in communicating with it.
Well pointed out Albertross as this is something that we only spotted by chance.0
