I have had a very productive evening - I have done the following:
- submitted my credit requests for my Avon returns
- paid for my last Avon order
- phoned Avon to request that my returns are collected
- completed my electoral register form ready to post (couldn't do it online this time because I have had to amend to include DS this time)
- phoned Sainsburys bank to arrange my balance transfer from my Egg card - £1500, 2.95% APR for 24 months
- followed the link from this week's MSE email and applied for a Barclaycard and been accepted, requested a balance transfer of £1500 at 0% APR for 24 months - I will have to wait and see what credit limit they give me before I know whether the whole £1500 is transferred
- tried applying for another credit card for another good balance transfer deal, but was rejected - oh well, it was worth a try!
- fished out details of the credit cards I have £0 balance and tried to log into the online account - none of them worked but I am not sure whether this is just a technical problem because I tried logging into an active one and that one didn't work either. Will have to try again from home or from work.

I had some bad news yesterday. The daughter of one of my cousins was diagnosed with cancer back in January and I have only just found out. Apparently she has been having chemo and has just had a scan which was inconclusive - doesn't sound good does it? They are now waiting for another scan to see if they can get a better idea what's going on. It seems so unfair - she is only 19.
It sort of puts all this money stuff into perspective doesn't it?PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Just updated my sig - not as good as I had hoped but still an significant improvement on last month! August was an expensive month - just got back from hols, Proms trip, wedding last Friday, new school uniform for DS. September should be better!
Fuller post to follow when I have got a bit more spare time!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Sorry I have been very quiet just lately - I have been stupidly busy for the last few weeks. I am certainly accumulating a fair amount of flexi-time at the moment, though when I will be able to use some of it to have a TOIL day is anyone's guess.
The weight loss efforts are going pear-shaped (literally!) and money-wise things have been very tight this month. I think this is a combination of the balance transfers I did at the end of last month (I always like to pay off the balance transfer fees straight away), spending too much in the early part of the month, expenses incurred as a result of DS starting 6th form (new uniform etc) and the fact that last month was a very expensive month! I also slipped a bit with keeping my spreadsheets up to date - fatal mistake!
I am also very very tired!!
I am also very very stressed - hence why I am having a short pitstop to update here!
News on the car front - we are still researching what car to buy. We are currently struggling to find something that is not going to cost and arm and a leg to insure!
I forgot to mention that DS did really well in his GCSEs - he got As and Bs for nearly everything plus a C in Spanish, which he was very pleased with as it was his weakest subject. He also managed to get 100% for Chemistry (which formed part of his additional science GCSE). He is now studying for A levels in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and ICT.
Anyway, I have a mountain of work to plough through so I had better get on.
Bye all!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Oh wow!! What a clever boy you have! You must be so proud
Don't be too hard on yourself with weight and money - these months happen to us all. Take a breath and then start again.
Take careOne step at a time0 -
I am a very proud Mum! Especially as this was the boy who started school barely able to talk and we worried about whether he would ever cope with mainstream school.
He seems to be taking to 6th form life like a duck to water!
Work is quite stressful at the moment, not helped by the fact that someone I thought was on my side clearly has no hesitation about treating me with the contempt she is treating everyone else. She is leaving tomorrow (taking voluntary redundancy - a long story which I shan't bore you with) and she and I have worked very well together. I know the situation among the team that she belongs to is very bad at the moment and felt that her best option was to take the redundancy. I understand that there are certain people who have a lot to answer for. But I have bent over backwards to help her with something that I am not really supposed to be doing any more. There is a lot to do and said I would help with the transition period. I really thought she and I were singing from the same hymn sheet. On Friday afternoon she was meant to be helping me with a large job (a job that I have been doing to help her out) along with a few other people - she didn't even appear, no apology, no explanation. Even when I asked her what had happened I got a very vague reply and still no apology. This morning she and I were due to muck in together with a necessary activity - mad activity for about half an hour but with a tight deadlne - something we have done many times before. She was actually really a*sey with me. There was really no need for it. I am actually quite upset about it. Oh well, she will be gone tomorrow and those of us left behind will have to pick up on all the things that should have been done, that haven't been done. There's nowt as queer as folk is there?!
Hasn't it been hot today? I think I shall go and have a lovely soak in the bath shortly - I think it will do me good!
Night all!PigginSkint's debt free diary
