Wow Piggin, i don't come on the forum for a few days and come back to find you busy busy busy!!
Good luck with trying for a baby. Once you start trying, lie with your legs up in the air afterwards to let gravity help with the journey! I shall say no more
Your going great guns with your debt reduction too. How's you finger now? I'm glad your on the road to recovery with it.
Right, need to dash and utilise the time whilst LO is asleep!
Thanks Hopeful
(I prepared my other reply offline which is why I posted that one first!)
The finger is still recovering - I had to put a plaster back on it yesterday as I have a little flap of skin which was raised again and kept catching on stuff. I am afraid of it tearing and giving me more mischief!
The main problem is getting the full range of movement back into it, because the skin is absolutely rock hard! I can sort of bend it so that the finger tip touches the base of my thumb but I can't straighten it at all - it is sort of semi bent, if you know what I mean. Curved I suppose would be the best way of describing it!
I watched that 'One born every minute' programme last night - it is certainly convinced me that I am doing the right thing! I found myself aching to have another one!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Eeek the flap of skin bit made my toes curl
Would massaging the hard skin with cream help or is it too sensitive for you to touch it much?
I missed One Born Every Minute. It's probably just as well, as i would love a 3rd but i know it's no go with OH.. i just about got a 2nd!!One step at a time0 -

I am massaging it with aqueous cream on the scar itself, then handcream, vaseline etc on the skin on the rest of the finger - I think it's going to take a while though!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
I have made a decision to start making extra payments to my LTSB loan to try to get it cleared a bit faster - and so freeing up £182.23 a month. I was going to wait until I had paid off my Egg card but I changed my mind! I was anxious to get stuck in.
So today as I was in the branch on campus anyway paying some money in, I made a one-off extra payment of £20 and set up a weekly standing order of £10, payable every Friday until further notice. Once a few payments have gone out I should be able to make some calculations about how much sooner I will pay it off. In addition, when I find myself with some money left at the end of a month (which does happen!) I will use some of it to make more one-off payments. I will of course continue my onslaught on other debts!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Update on this: A big flap of skin fell off yesterday - fear not, there was some lovely new skin underneath. And then yet more dead skin and scabs fell off today - again, with new skin underneath. Let the moisturising onslaught begin! I have got an appointment at the hand clinic on Wednesday so will wait and see what they say.PigginSkint's debt free diary

I am rather annoyed (and despairing!) at OH this morning - it appears that he was under the mistaken impression that the weekly money he gives me covers the food shopping as well as the household bills.........er, no!
As I explained to him this morning (not for the first time, I'm sure!) the idea was that he gives me half the money for the household bills and then he contributes to the food shopping by actually doing some! This came out this morning because he has run out of coffee and he was expecting me to pay for some more (bear in mind I don't drink it!)
I do wonder what planet he is on sometimes! As I pointed out to him, we would never survive if we had to rely on his income alone.
I think I might have to do some calculations today to work out exactly how much I do spend on food in a month and point out to OH how much I would have to put his weekly money up by if that was to cover food as well.
I think I might also point out that he really needs to be increasing his income to get somewhere close to what mine is - doing a rough calculation in my head, this means his weekly income would have to treble to get anywhere close! If we are going to have babies then I would say that this would be something of a necessity!
Got card and choccies from DS this morning so that has soothed my mood somewhat! We haven't got to go out today because I went up to my Dad's yesterday to give my SM a card and flowers and went to the churchyard to put flowers on my Mum's grave.
I did some snowball calculations on Friday about my LTSB loan. With minimum payments only, and if I let the loan run its course, we are looking at clearing it by December 2011. By paying an extra £10 a week (which I just set up a standing order for) I knock about 4 months off that. If I pay about £300 a month in total (current minimum payment £182.23) then it would be clear in 12 months! This is easily achievable! If I was to increase that to £400 a month, then we would be looking at clearing it by December this year! How good would that be!
This has given me a real push to get stuck into it. The plan is now to see how much money I have got left at the end of the month and pay a big chunk of that to this loan.
My other big targets at the moment are the Egg card - the main things left on there are the remainder of the car hire from last summer and the money that OH still owes me. I think once I have cleared mine I might transfer OH's onto another card to save some money on the interest because God only knows when he will finally pay that off. Grrrr!!!
The other current target is the Amex card, for 2 reasons: (1) it is very nearly clear (2) the payments are £25 a month which is actually quite a high proportion of the balance (min payments are 5% of balance or £25 whichever is higher). The balance is now about £170 so I expect and intend that to be clear very soon. It is one of my targets for payment a day - in addition to the minimum payment I am paying £1 a day plus pence representing the date (so today's was £1.14).
I think today is going to consist of housework, farming (farmville), playing with spreadsheets (calculations of expenditure on food) and watching a bit of telly, etc!
Blimey! Haven't I rambled on! Better get dressed and get some stuff done!
Bye all!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Forgot to update on this! All the rest of the dead skin and scabs fell off on Monday - lovely new pink skin underneath! I went to hand clinic on Wednesday and the surgeon said that the fact that I can't straighten my finger is actually perfectly normal at this stage - apparently what happens is that as the skin heals it contracts, so pulling the finger round. I am now waiting for physio appt so they can give me some exercises to help correct this.PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi EAMD!
Apart from the poorly finger (though not as poorly as it was) I'm not too bad! I finally had an appointment about the tennis elbow last week and have a got a strap to wear on my arm to ease the pain, plus instructions about ice and pain relieving gel - should be getting some physio soon as well.
Life is on the up - OH is working hard and earning plenty (not as much as me but hey, you can't have everything!). He had an audition today for another advert, so fingers crossed.
Work is busy, busy, busy and I looking forward to the Easter break when I shall have a week off - I need a rest!
Great to hear from you again!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Just a flying visit to say that I haven't dropped off the planet! Work is very busy at the moment so I feel hardly able to draw breath! I am only stopping by now because I needed a break from data entry of marks and attendance monitoring - starting to go a bit boss-eyed from it!
Anyway, must get on!
