Can anyone help with my dilemma?
I have worked for an electronics comany for 7 years, 3 years ago I got moved in to another department working with someone 3 grades higher, after a while I was doing the job better than him. Our company went through some redundancies and my co worker was one of the unlucky ones. I was left doing the job on my own. When it came to my annual wage review I asked about a grade increase but was informed due to redundancies they could not upgrade me. There are 3 shifts that do my job, one on each shift, the other 2 are both 3 grades higher and get paid a lot more than me. I am repeatedly being told how good I am at my job. I am due my annual review next week and rumour has it that I am getting a small wage rise but no grade increase. I get a wage of 15000 p.a, and the other two are on about 22000 p.a.
Do I have a case of being unfairly treated? It certainly feels like it.
Thanks for any help.

Doesnt sound very fair to me . However have the other two got more experience or more qualifications than you,or have they haeld the grade for some time? I would be inclined to find that out and if they do , push your employer to support you getting that qualification . You could also contact your Union , if you have one or alternatively try ACAS on 08457 474747, they may be able to help or point you in the right direction. Good luck
  • I have an hnd, as does one of the others, the other only has an onc. I am younger but I still have plenty of experience, 20 years in electronics. Do I need to complain in writing to my employer? We dont have a union but can I use ACAS?

ACAS is open to both employee and employer and is free. They are extemely helpful and will direct you ,for what course of action you need to take . Good luck .
