Hallo i parked in a cheap private car park in my local area and parked my vehicle correctly and display my parking ticket, i paid 50p for 1 hour and i was only gone for just under half an hour, when i returned to my car a parking notice had been stuck to my screen, stating i was causing an obstruction, i wasn't so i took photo's of my car, and obtained details on how to contact the owners form there display board, i follwoed the prompt on there website on process on how to appeal, i did this two days after the event, i received an automated response saying i would be contacted within 14 days by royal mail. I did not recieve any correspondance from them, (this occured on the 5th feb 2012, appeal email sent 7 th feb 2012. on the 2/4/12 i recieved a debt recovery lettter stating that i had to pay by the 12th april 2012, i called the debt collections company that day to explain that i was appealing and had not further corresondance from theparking company apart from an automated email response, they advised be to call the parking company to find out why no other contact had been made to myself, i spoke to a contact at the parking company and she informed me that they had sent out a "automatically generated letter" to me on the 15th of feb which i never received!!, she said "there just computer genrated i will send another one out to you".to this date nothing recieved in the post as promised. i then was told by the parking company that now my case was with the debt company i woyld need to call them back and appeal my case to them !! so i called the debt company again and explained what i was advised to do by the parking company and they then said to me i wouldneed to send to the appeal to them and someone from there company would call me?. I have sent my copied original appeal to the debt company x3 times now but only recieved two automated responses to my sent email. in there automated repsonse they state will respond in date order !! what do i do now ???

Do not ignore a private parking ticket - from 2013 onwards things changed in England/Wales. If yours is Parking Eye then they are suing people and so are some other PPCs.
You must appeal and with current forum advice, you will win at popla - we win 100% of appeals in 2014.
Please click to page one of the forum, get off this old thread. See my signature below for where to click to read current advice. Please read the NEWBIES thread at the top of this very forum.
Did I say STOP reading this ancient thread, NOW??!!

You did precisely what they wanted you to do- you took it seriously! This is the sort of runaround they will give anyone who looks like they are on the hook, as they figure you will eventually get fed up with all the rigmarole and will knuckle under and pay!
Just walk away from this situation now and leave them talking to themselves. They won't actually do anything because there is nothing they CAN do. They will try their hardest, by sending you scary letters, because they have you filed under "Mug", but prove them wrong.
They WILL go away and your hard-earned dosh will stay in YOUR bank account, not go to theirs.
Questions?
P.S. What bunch of scamming crooks is this one?0 -
An impersonation of authority scam.

100% ignore, please read the stickies,,quick lesson now,, if you recieve a genuine/legit fine, the ticket will say PENALTY charge notice=must pay,can appeal,,,if you recieve a fake one, meaning no legal back up,,in other words unenforceable invoice or scam, it will say ,,PARKING charge notice=this is what you have, follow instructions already given, nothing can/will hapen to you as a result of this,so relax, major chill time for you, feet up, enjoy easter,,,and do not contact or reply to any more threat o grams you recieve on or behalf of these clowns, now take that major chill pill.0

That is the longest sentence I have ever read. Don't you have full stops on your keyboard or only commas.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Can anyone please tell me if I should have received a fine when parked at a double red line whilst I was in the car, with the engine running for less than a minute. Is this even legal?
Sorry if this message is not posted in the correct thread, but I could not start a new one somehow.0 -
'parked' at a double red line. I dont live in a city but understand these red lines to mean no stopping. You have just confirmed you did more than stop but were actually 'parked' so a ticket is probably fair do's.
There are those who believe that putting your hazards on when parked on double yellow renders the road markings obsolete. Maybe you could have tried that. At least any queueing traffic could have more clearly seen the doofus causing the obstruction.0 -
I didn't really notice the double red lines as I was quickly dropping off a friend at a station in Kings Cross. I safely stopped there without any obstruction to road users. I suppose there is no justice when it comes to parking fines. I genuinely made a mistake. Surely we must be given at least to 2-3 minutes of grace before getting caught and I was in the car with the engine running too. Also I received a TFL fine and not a council one, strange. I'd like it if we get a warning first before getting a fine, it's just not fair for a genuine mistake.0

You did get a warning of sorts though.....that's what the red lines are for!
It is in the highway code, double red lines = no stopping at any times. If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me

Not here to stand in judgment. I take the view that most traffic enforcement's main priority is to raise cash, otherwise some discretion would be used.
Unfortunately the fine is probably right in law; but with TfL, there is always the possibility they may have cocked up procedurally which would render the ticket invalid. Try putting it up on pepidoo as they have people there who specialise in this.0
