i had a toggi coat (feathers inside) for my birthday and it advises to tumble dry with 3 brand new tennis balls.0

My hubby's down-filled Timberland jacket (50p from jumble sale btw!) also recommends tumble-drying with tennis balls.0

I wash feather pillows. I always tumble dry them and feather duvets , I haven't used tennis balls, but might try it next time, I just shake them every 20 mins or so and put them back in.0

just thought i'd mention after being redirected to this thread and the duvet washing thread that you really should be washing your pillows and duvets at least once a month or two months if you really must
a cover will NOT keep out germs and dust mite droppings etc
duvets and pillows are hoaching with nasty bacteria and really really really need to be washed after someone has had a nasty cold, the flu etc
i don't use feather pillows or duvets anymore because they are so hard to wash but a duvet isn't a huge bother. you can even wash them in the bathtub if you have too
and they don't take long to dry either
pillows are very easy
and to make things simpler, i don't even take the covers off my duvet or pillows when i wash them and they clean up beautifullyfounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -

I'm sure we got by in the past without washing duvets every monthI'm sure i haven't caught anything nasty from mine - No offence but i still think people are too hung up on over sanitising everything ( i mentioned this last week about oven cleaning) . everyone seems to be alergic to everything these days.
Sorry to go off topic but it is one of my (very few) things that i will rant about
Cheers
