I could cry I am so angry at the moment. I know it is a stupid thing to get so worked up over.

The fence I spent a week painting...............the paint has washed off in all the rain

Ronseal have the worst customer service in the world, they are worse than a foreign call centre. They never ring you back, they say they will ring you straight back (to save my mobile) then booger off on their dinner while I am sat staring at the mobile to ring.

The first said they don't send anyone out to houses to check as they only have reps and they don't do that kind of thing so I would have to take pictures and send them to them.

Spent all morning taking pics and sending them (email struggles to send pics)

Long story short, they then said it was because my wood was too smooth I have several different types of wood. The front fence is different to the back fence, cat pen, trellis etc and it has all gone. They then said they would have to send someone out WHICH THEY SAID THEY DON'T DO

They then said they would have to get someone with more authority to ring me when they got out of a meeting and then they never rang either.

I don't know how to get them to take me seriously as they speak to me as though it is my fault.

The whole garden looks like it has been through the washing machine.

Forgot to add it was only painted last week and the fence was dry, rubbed down with a brush has not reacted with other substances and the trellis in the back has not been painted with anything and that has also done it. I have rang B&Q and I am the only person with this problem.

no you aren't, i remember my sister a couple of years ago having the same problem , i don't think she got any satisfaction from either Ronseal or the retailer. she had to repaint the whole thing with a different make.

What does it say on the tin?

Has the fence been treated previously?

If it has, it is possible that previous treatments have not allowed the liquid to absorb into the wood - exactly what such treatments are meant to do.

I have a corner house with a lot of fencing. Yes it took me a week to paint as it took four coats in some places even though it said one coat or two for the five year guarantee.

As I said before, I have several different types of wood, the posts, fencing at the front, fencing at the back, the cat fostering pen, an arch and some trellis are all different types.

I think this is a bad situation made worse by the poor customer service. They do not ring you back when promised and lie blatantly in everything they say.

Who the person dressed up as a witch?

Cat's having fun with the chickens.

Your other photos are more interesting than the fence one, like watching paint dry...

Didn't realise you knew OP's garden so well! So, how big is OP's garden?

Click on the fence photo, pictures of the garden, all sorts.

Pictures of parts of the garden, not necessarily all of the garden and either way size of garden and animals contained within are completely irrelevant to this thread aren't they?

OP could have a troop of Billy Smart's Circus Elephants in her yard, wouldn't change the fact that her fence has run now would it?

Dear Ronseal, I painted my fence and the elephants have licked it off, nowhere on the tin did it say that would happen.

    I'm demanding compensation.

    As are my elephants.

Try Cuprinol Ducksback - I have used it on my shed, and have no complaints. Lasted over 5 years before it needed doing again.

  • We have the same problem. Took my wife and I well over 2 weekends to paint a new fence about a month ago. Rained yesterday and washed Ronseal Onecoat Fencelife off. No complaints with speed of Ronseal response, BUT, the guy said that it was due to the tanalising treatment of the fence, and we should have waited for 6 months.

Now you tell me where on the tins or on the website that it says that. If we had known it, we would not have wasted £60 and days of boring work.

    I am b****y furious.
