Did they? Quote please. I don't remember any such promise.NewCustomerOnly wrote: »Good luck with that, thousands of miserable families who were on the edge of holding down a job for their own self respect have now fallen over it ! Glad you got a few extra hours, I asked but my employer said people aren't spending so she hasn't got any and she won't be recruiting in sept either. This is terrible for most of us, sometimes having to deny our kids the basics.
Do we all remember in the election the Cons promised not to touch our tax credits?0 -

Why would you be starving with £216pw CTC, £60.50pw CB + min £145.92 wages - £422pw?
Presumably you have a partner and were working under 24hpw.... between you........the changes were announced 2 years ago, so you should have been planning for it.
Changes are taking approx 3 weeks to be checked as almost every one is being checked to make sure they are genuine due to the fact that there are thousands of families (but not all) who have been happily plodding along working the bare minimum 16 hpw between them, but have suddenly managed to increased their hrs to the new bare min of 24hpw between them......
Yes there are lots of genuine cases where people have have lots jobs, can't find work etc..., however there are also lots of cases where couples have been working just 16hpw between them for years - I find it hard to believe that over the space of several years they haven't been able to obtain more employment than 16hpw between them.
I just wonder how so many people have suddenly managed to increase their hours in such a short space of time, coinciding with the WTC rule changes?0 -
I do agree in part to what you have said, but everyone has different situations, in my case for example..husband was working full time until his first knee surgery 2 years ago, he then had to drop his hours to part time 23 as was physically unable to maintain full time whilst awaiting 2nd knee op, he had this 2nd op in Dec 11, and was off work for 16 weeks on ssp....his doctors have advised him not to return to work yet and is awaiting date of full knee replacement at 40 yrs of age, but he had to return as we would have lost the working tax credits if he was not back at work doing 1 extra hour a week by the 5th April, even though i told the tax credit office that his employer had agreed to give him 1 extra hour they would not change it on the system until he had returned to work.........he went back against doctors advise, he now works 3 days a week and spends the other 4 in complete agony as he has over-done it, and for what for them to mess up the payments anyway....we have managed to keep our heads above water for 4 months on ssp and now they mess up his tax credits...we have looked a roll reversal and me going to work but with 4 kids and a husband who physically cant drive or walk very far with out supervision( he has this at work, is never left alone) it is completely impossible at the minute.
And as for adding up what people get each week, i budget weekly and if a payment that you are expecting does not clear it completely throws everything out.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -

I appreciate your circumstances, and did say not everyone was the same, but why were you expecting the payment?0 -
I appreciate your circumstances, and did say not everyone was the same, but why were you expecting the payment?
Because they told me when i informed them of his return to work on 24 hours mid march, that payments would continue as he was meeting the minimum requirement for the April changes and so payments would continue as normal.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
hi, can you please tell me if i am still entitled to working tax credits when i work 16 hours a week and my husband is claiming contribution based employment and support allowance? i have phoned them up but they said hes not classed as incapacitated but on the website it says that i could still claim if he is unable to work. He has been claiming since end of 2010.0
