No pioint trying to call them today as the Tax credit systems are being updated over the weekend so the advisors can't do any updates.

Ring them after Easter and tell them his hours have increased. They will backdate a maximum of 1 month.
This is part of the new rules the government brought in requiring couples with children to work 24 hrs or more to qualify for WTC

  • Today is the start of a new tax year. your last payment would have taken you up to the 5th April.

If you look on your last assessment for the year 2011/12 it would have told you when your first payment was due and the amount for the year 2012/13.

  • Good luck with that, thousands of miserable families who were on the edge of holding down a job for their own self respect have now fallen over it ! Glad you got a few extra hours, I asked but my employer said people aren't spending so she hasn't got any and she won't be recruiting in sept either. This is terrible for most of us, sometimes having to deny our kids the basics.

Do we all remember in the election the Cons promised not to touch our tax credits?

They also said there would be no top down review or change of the NHS. The coalition has been used as an excuse to do things that weren't in any manifesto.

Tax credit changes have 'unforeseen consequences' that the billionaire cabinet have got coming to them - the largest hike in unemployment for years' as low paid hardworking mums can't meet the huge cost of childcare when balanced against loss of credits.

Or maybe they DID see it coming (and cynically calculate that unemployment benefit is cheaper for them to pay out and that the pain of unemployment is 'a price worth paying' throwing a generation away. )

I just remembered too that their policies were promised to keep interest rates down yet the Halifax have just put mortgages up - the two changes together will just about finish most struggling families off. Anyway all this will be remembered on election day!

My wife is only contracted for 16 hours, so we have lost over £70.00 a week. Her boss is trying to up her hours but can't guarantee them, for instance last week she did 22 this week will be 16 again but the following week will be 30.

Just changed your sexist comment for you...

Also lets get it right, you probably didn't vote Tories in the first place...
