What are you trying to prove? That Santander are useless ..... but we all knew that.
^^ This.
Most Banks/BSs will process Faster Payments within minutes (i.e. LTSB, Halifax, Nationwide). They have the right not to process that quick and they are allowed to do Faster Payment by the end of next working day, but still choose to send it quicker. Santander on the other hand often chooses to send it as late as possible, but within the regulations, and for you that means next working day. Everybody knows it. You may say they benefit from it, and probably they do, however even though we don't like it, they have the right to do it that way.
I suggest get over it or like me try your luck with a different bank. I was with Santander not by my choice. I used to be a happy Alliance&Leicester customer for years, but then it was taken over by Santander. Santander was like a cancer, I closed RBS account before the disease spread there too haha. So no I'm no Santander lover but I still think in your case there is nothing to moan about.0 -
I attempted to do a 'Faster Payment' this afternoon from Santander to Lloyds TSB of £90.
The Santander account has over £3000 in it however it's just sitting in the 'attempted' fast payments list with REJECTED at the side of the transaction.
I am now trying to find out why as the account number and sort code to Lloyds is fine.0 -
For balance, I'd like to offer up my experience. Transfered some money from FirstDirect to Santander hours ago, still not arrived.
Just transfered £1.00 from Santander to FirstDirect to test and it arrived instantly.
I say get over it.0 -
Although Santander have until Tuesday to make the payment, they are normally excellent at FPs.
I expect that your payments may have been blocked as suspected fraudulent transactions,, so it would be worth phoning them to find out, and remove the block if necessary.0 -
No bank offers a guaranteed immediate FP service. It's not possible.
More to the point, no bank should allow anybody who gets into your internet account to just set up a new payee and transfer all your money out. There ought to be security checks on new payees. Some banks don't, but some do, so it's necessary to know what they do and make allowances.
However, a well-designed FP implementation lets you know whether it's going to try an immediate transfer or not. If not, there should be the option to change your mind - you might be able to speed things up by phone, or you might want to resort to CHAPS."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -

This is why.
FP does not look at the name on the account, so all the systems see is a large amount going in to a dormant (and maybe empty) account and then going out again. This sort of activity gets things blocked. I doubt that the computer compares where the money came from and is going.
The same thing happened to me when I opened Lloyds and Halifax accounts. But unlike Santander, they lock you out of internet banking completely. And if you don't log in for a month, Lloyds decides to disable your internet banking as well, and then wanted me to call them and give them my driving licence number (which I had never given them before) to reactivate.
Halifax decided to disable one of my online savings accounts because of a lack of transactions... well duh, it's a savings account. That got emptied and sent to Santander after the (hour-long) call via their freephone number to get it enabled.0 -

"Two sides to every story" - you don't live-up to your nick, do you???0 -
Would one of the sides stated be the incorrect side?0

I take it your money is still missing then LOL?0

Thought you'd been quiet.
So, the transfer happened within the published time frame and Santander haven't defrauded you?
Must admit that I feel slightly disappointed.
Out of interest, did you establish that the delay was caused by Santander not sending the funds when you expected them to, rather than the receiving organisation not crediting them to your account immediately?0
