We took two trunkis with us on holiday with a three year old and a one year old last year and didn't have any problems at all. My three year old drove his all round the airport from check in to security, (where he had to have it scanned of course much to his horror!), to departures. I put my daughters over my shoulder and carried it myself with no problems. I had my husband there too and my older son if things had got out of hand and problematic but everything was fine. I have since travelled alone with my children and their trunkis no problem at all. My hand luggage goes in an old Phil and Teds backpack which means its easier to carry a trunki on my shoulder and my daughter who is now nearly two in my arms with ease. :)

I bought one in the Summer for my son (who was 15 months at the time) as we were traveling long haul (over 24 hours).

    I'm so glad I did!

It could easily fit on the bottom shelf of his pushchair and it was super useful for keeping him entertained on flights and in the various airport waiting lounges. I packed it full of quiet toys and sensory books to keep him amused and it worked! There was also space leftover for 2 changes of clothes, nappies and baby wipes.

This meant I could use my hand luggage for MY stuff!

He is older now (almost 2) and he loves playing with it in the house (pulling it around and storing his toys in it). I will be using it again around Christmas time when I travel back home to visit my family.

This time round I plan on filling it up with board books, coloring in pages, puzzles etc.

I'm 42 and determined to have one this year as my hand luggage.

Why can't l 'thank' your post? Brilliant. :rotfl:

We've got one when we travelled with our then 2 year old. He was fine with it, although we pulled him through the airport rather than let him loose to barge into people. We could control it that way.... and yes we did often end up carrying it for him but l still think they are brilliant and he still uses it now at 6 year old and will do when we fly this year to keep his books and stuff in to amuse him at the airport.

    Happy moneysaving all.

Also for anybody with a child under two who cannot book a seat on a short haul flight, (some airlines will not allow you to!), they are a perfect size for the overhead lockers and lightweight so ideal for making full use of the paltry infant luggage allowances. :D
  • Argh looks like I'm the only one that really doesn't get on with trunkis!!

I have a now 7 year old and a now 4 year old. I took them abroad for the first time 3 years ago on my own! When we went we had 1 trunkie. DS1 pulled DS2 on it and it was great. We had a 4 hour flight and they had a change of clothes and books and colouring stuff in there.

Year two I though I'd economise. Had two trunkies and packed them to the limit for hand luggage weight so I could just take the one hold bag! Unfortunately forgot that at the airport I use you have to walk across the runway (that was ok as boys pulled the trunkis) then up the stairs onto the plane! Nightmare with two small boys then 5 and 3, and three bags weighing nearly 25kg  Thankfully some lovely other passengers helped with the bags as my youngest wouldn't walk up the steps:o. Last year we took the two trunkis. One loaded with spare clothes, one with books etc and both boys pulled them. They were fantastic!

So it seems I'm one of the few who would say get them!
