How to transfer with same bank?

My 11/12 ISA with Halifax at 3% has now ended and it's now 0.5%, so I applied online for another at 3% with Haliax. It appears on My Accounts, I click on transfer an existing ISA, which is what I want to do, I fill in the details and it says:
Error: You have entered an Halifax sort code

How do I transfer?

Normally instead of opening a new account - you ask them to redesignate the old account to the new type

edit: you can convert online at https://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/accounts/cash-isas/ISAoptions/
If your existing variable rate Halifax cash ISA account no longer suits your needs you can choose to convert your existing cash ISA account to one of the three ISA accounts below.
Converting is a simple three step process:
    • Choose the account that will best suit your needs from the table below,
    • Click the Apply Now button and fill in a simple form,
    • We will process your request within 5 working days and let you know when it is completed.

As I already opened one in error, I think a trip to my branch Saturday to sort it out is in order.

Or you can try telephone banking - as long as you haven't put any cash into the new one they can close it without any issue
  • Perhaps it's the same as with Santander. If you already have an ISA with them you have to ring them to transfer to a new ISA, you can't do it online.

I didn't come on online yesterday but went up this morning, had to go up town anyway and all sorted.

Didn't really want to phone 0845 number in the first place unless I really have too.
