Considering a switch from O2 to Three
Afternoon all,
I am currently on an old iPhone Simplicity tariff (600 mins, 1200 texts and unlimited data) which costs me £20.42pm which I kept from my iPhone 3G and I have had the iPhone 4 for about 18 months. The reason for keeping it was the unlimited data which had been pulled by all networks at the time.
I will be looking to get the new iPhone which will be out later this year and wanted people's opinions about the networks. The main attractions to Three are that I can keep my unlimited data and also (from what I have read) they have the best 3G coverage in the UK.
I do a lot of travelling at weekends around the country attending stockcar meetings and have noticed that O2 are very poor in the areas I attend.
Now for the question......would you switch from O2 to Three?
Thanks
Andy

If you have a spare 3g phone just get a free '3' PAYG sim and keep an eye on the signal when travelling. You have plenty of time.0 -
"3" do have an excellent 3G coverage and for a smart phone in cities or towns 3 are generally fine. The coverage inside buildings isn't as good as 2G on other networks but the smartphone experience is good.
Where Vodafone and o2 score is that they generally have the best rural coverage. This isn't absolute all networks have places which they cover well and others don't but Vodafone & o2 got the best spectrum for coverage (as against T-Mobile, Orange and "3")
Try taking a "3" PAYG sim in a 3G phone with you as "grumbler" suggests before swapping.0 -
Well I have to disagree with some of the comments above. Currently I have an O2 phone, but use Three via a dongle for my laptop. We go out and about in our touring caravan, and often find I have 3G coverage for my dongle and my phone, and other Vodafone users have no signal whatsoever. We are often in out of the way places, and certainly never near towns. It is tempting me to go Three's way when my contract is up. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
I used to have a contract with 3. I also prior to that used to have a contract with 02. I do not have a contract any more, 3 put me off owning another mobile phone possibly ever again. I get lured in by the idea of a shiny new handset, then remember how bad the service with 3 was... (would reconsider 02 but my credit rating is smashed).
I would say call them up (3) and see what you think. As far as their support goes, its all Indian call centers. Whilst some workers there can be great, others have such a heavy accent its impossible to understand them properly. Add to that the odd liar (don't get me started on that last one!) and you have a contract that has you so stressed out about weather or not the handset will ever show a fault (because getting it sorted is not 3's best attribute: took them 4 months and me sending the handset back as it had not been touched, 3 times) and you have a nightmare of a contract: that is if you do get the contract they promised. (I did not, they lied.)0 -
I got massively Hassled by 3 a decade ago when they endlessly chased me for a bill that I had already paid.
It was horrendous trying to get the problem resolved, via their Indian call center. I got debtors letters for the following 8 years, even though I was assured it had been sorted many times!
Ive been put off ever returning. I hope they are better these days0
