Seen as a junior (by people on here)
Whilst I can see that you might have had a large quantity of work in that role, which requires a lot of knowledge around systems and suppliers, processes and regulations, I personally wouldn't consider it a senior position.
Whilst it may be more 'senior' within a technical finance department, it's not what I would refer to as senior job. A senior role to me is usually over middle management level. Heads of Department, directors of large organisations, or business owners. So whilst what you did may be complex in the requirement of knowledge and processes, it isn't what I'd term senior (if you're interested in opinions, of course!). I'm not saying that it's a junior role, either, though.
At the end of the day, a job's a job. I used to earn £55k in my previous employed job. As a freelancer I earn a very good day rate, now. I'm also employed on a fixed term contract at a salary less than half of what I used to earn, because I needed some extra cash at the time - and the job's turned out to be really interesting. I won't stay there, but it's given me great contacts, and I can now say I've worked internationally on my CV, which I couldn't have before.
But I would take a £16K role tomorrow if I needed to, in a shop, or min wage as a cleaner if required. It's money, it helps pay the bills, it helps build self-respect and a sense of purpose - and if nothing else, structure to your day. You may genuinely want to consider doing that. I know your defence will be "but I've applied for everything and got nowhere!" but if you don't look more broadly than just your industry, and only at more 'senior' roles that you're used to, you may be excluding some good opportunities.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

What I don't understand is why - after they've told you it's a junior role (regardless of whether *you* think it is!) - you still ask to be considered! That's what I don't get, and why I questioned it.
I agree with this. Without getting personal on the OP, it does seem she throws up barriers and issues that aren't there and then gets angry with those same barriers!
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -

I absolutely agree. I got my head bitten off a couple of weeks ago for telling the OP that she wasn't "senior". Admittedly I couldn't have said it as eloquently as you have here. But after a few weeks of reading the OP she seems to be permanantly angry at anyone who won't employ her, and I simply can't see how that is helping or good for anyone. I just can't quite reconcile that the OP lives in London or thereabouts and can't find any work; or that there are no available lower paid (too scared to say "junior" after all this!) posts in that region in accounts. But whatever, I agree with you - I would rather do anything than sign on. I accept I am lucky that with my skills and experience and shortages in my field I can walk into work whenever I want, but if I couldn't I'd rather stack shelves at the supermarket than sign on. I just can't see how, in that area of the country, there is absolutely nothing at all.0 -
This was a job advertised this morning - have taken out the company name
taking out the name is a waste of time if you quote the full advert.
google finds it without a problem.
Did you talor your CV?
you missed this off the quote
Please don't forget to accompany your application with either a short video introduction (preferred) or cover letter that tells us why you're the perfect candidate for the job!
what was in your cover letter?
This is a media/games/technology company
did you tailor your reply to that market.
they will want people with an interest in the products.
looks like they have a job in my field too far to travel.
Looking at the other jobs not doing a video is likely to be a negative.
