British Gas charge way too much, ask your local guy and you'll see the difference in price between his quote and theirs.

Make sure you go for a Valiant or Worcester Bosch with a good guarantee from the builder who fits it.

    builder ??

i personally would get a registered gas fitter/plumber to do the job

see if you can source the boiler yourself , one of my customers got a price for a boiler from our local builders merchant for £1600, as he had his iphone with him he googled the make and got prices £800 cheaper -:eek::eek::eek::eek:, he asked them to match it and they did

  • we got similar quote from british gas last time too! Obviously we got a shock and told the british gas guy we would like to consider first. After doing some research on our own, we realised that we could get £1000 cheaper from other smaller company for exactly same type of boiler. I would suggest you to do some research first british gas is definitely more expensive, and they will try to get you to pay long term installment, in order to earn more. Good luck.

    Hi,
When you say BG condemned the boiler did they tell you not to use it and why?
I the past condemned has really meant we do not have the parts/want to sell you a new boiler.
They would be very firm if they were condemning it and and make it 100% clear why, even going as far as disconnecting the supply.

    Gledhill spares are still available.

When they went bust, the reformed as 2 separate company's.

Find out what part(s) are needed and give a local engineer a call, or a local boiler parts supplier before making any decisions.
