Reading this thread with interest. In January I had to take my two sons to a birthday party at the metro centre and being in a rush, parked in the area that is set aside for car washing. Cant think how to type why I parked where I parked, but needless to say if I had known that there were fees enforceable for parking in the space I parked in, I would not have parked there! Now I go to the Metro Centre ALOT, living 5 mins up the road. I have seen the UKPC signs but never had reason to read them and never thought that there would be 'fines' for parking in what it a FREE CAR PARK!! This was in January and so far we have ignored all the letters we have been sent, however now we have had the Notice of Intended Litigation and we are starting to get nervous and just want to check we are doing the right thing just ignoring it all? Any advice, thanks in advance??
Everyone gets that Notice of Intended Litigation, as shown in the sticky thread 'PPC letters & threats'. It's just another standard scary template letter.
Do not pay, carry on ignoring anything except real, sealed Court papers. These will never come!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0 -
It should read "Notice of unintended Litigation" but that would not scare people!

Or more accurately, "Notice of Intended Cessation of Correspondence".0

there are 10,000 spaces to park in at the Metro Centre, so of course they would fine you for parking in the car cleaning bit!notgotenough£ wrote: »Hi

Erm, how can a private company 'fine' someone? Care to explain Soapn?Je Suis Cecil.0

We are very careful on here not to condone inconsiderate parking or non-payment, even unintentional.
Only the police, councils and Transport for London can impose fines or penalties. Private companies and individuals can't.
If they only asked for what the owner has lost, then that would be a legally enforeable debt.
By demanding significantly more than this, it becomes an unenforceable speculative invoice.
New posters come onto this board, having received threatening letters, which have been judged to constitute harrassment. Please treat them with more sympathy in future. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

This is a specialist forum giving specialised advice. Not a discussion and opinion arena. Please don't come on and confuse posters if you have no clear idea of what this is all about.
If you have had any problems with a private parking company then bring them to us and we will be happy to help. Otherwise you are only obfuscating the issues with comments like that.0 -
Just dropped on Soapn's profile to gauge how the above comment might best be interpreted. I thoroughly recommend looking at their previous posts and can suggest that the above is simply ignored. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

He is known to me from the MoneySavers Arms/Discussion Time boards.
In fairness and discounting his misuse of the word "fine", he was not incorrect. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

Well, I have to say I am certainly in agreement with his signature, lol. But he's posted twice on here and were it not for the fact that he's clearly an established member I would have suspected that ppeterson had found himself a new identity.........0
