Hi all,

Looking for a nice cottage, referably in the Peak District area, but open to other areas.

Will be for one week for 2 adults from 9th - 16th June 2012. Only must have is free wi-fi (can't live without t'internet!)

Looking to spend no more than £250 if possible

Looked at websites such as Sykes and Cottages4you but it's a bit of a minefield so any suggestions/links would be much appriciated

Thanks in advance...

WiFi is becoming a more popular request for holiday stays and needs looking into. Our WiFi is sadly in the pub next door to the outdoor pool .Sadly i have to use it often ,very often . Could think of worse things to do

  • I know it is a different atea, but try Holidays Near Longleat, there is a huge range of places to stay.

  • I bought a packet of 3 thirst pockets and they have a voucher on them for kids go free to Longleat. Free child ticket with a full paying adult.

I work for a small hol cottage company in the Peak District and suggest looking for small companies and then emailing them with your budget, there's a possibility they might accept your offer whereas the ones that are on Sykes or similar have less flexibility and can only go with published prices - we very frequently drop prices if people ask nicely, esp for a late booking. Also be flexible yourselves with your arrival and departure dates. Our checkins are Frid and Mon so if you offered us 250 for Mon to Frid we would likely accept it.

Peakcottages.com are pretty popular, we get quite a few bookings through them, tho most of ours are through our own websites or for late bookings, lastminute-cottages.com. The other thing is that Staffordshire Peak District (Staffs Moorlands) can be cheaper than Derbyshire because fewer people know of it, but it's gorgeous for that very reason!

Good luck, the Peak Park is so wonderful - I hope we can welcome you here soon.

Thanks for the info. Can you give me the direct link to your website please?

Have pm-ed you as not sure that advertising's allowed and don't want to be excommunicated!

At the moment though, your week in June wouldn't be considered to be a late booking so doubt you'd get a discount - need to wait till a month or so before the time to get a good deal - the nearer the date the more discount you'll get. There's a couple of 2 bed cottages still avail for around your time however and it's unlikely to be a busy week just after the jubilee.

Good luck, happy to provide more info but in the interests of fair play, have a look at some others on Peak Cottages.com as we have so many great hol properties in this area.

What you mean is we dont want your trade ? We dont want to secure a week at your cottages with us. If the OP wants to secure a break in your cottage now i would give them the lowest price now. Full stop & end of. I would not like to book a week in your cottage pay in March and then find out a week before it was reduced (if you had two cottages for the same price) This to me is bad practice and unfair on the guests who like to secure their stay early meaning you have their money for longer.
